@terrascale69 @DanielRegha @elonmusk Honestly I am not sure how Tesla gets the kind of longevity that they do. Maybe my 18650s were bad but the branding was quality, idk. I get the feeling that most other EV manufacturers will not share such longevity if for no other reason than the Tesla charging system.

@terrascale69 @DanielRegha @elonmusk It really depends upon the particular internal combustion engine. Tesla batteries use thousands of Panasonic 18650 batteries to create their “battery pack”. (Pretty much industry standard) In my experience single 18650 cells lose much of their potency over a year or so..tbc

@terrascale69 @DanielRegha @elonmusk Internal combustion you replace a broken part, could cost a couple grand at worst for the whole deal. Electric you are looking at a $10,000+ (ridiculously conservative estimate) replacement not including the man hours. Don’t get me wrong I am EV Proponent, Just being realistic.

@terrascale69 @DanielRegha @elonmusk Anyone with power tools can tell you…the battery is the biggest cost and point of failure after original purchase. Those lithium 18650s wear out surprisingly quickly. That is what worries me on used purchase.
