@WittyVitale Iโll reach you to you privately! I need a friend to go to the botanical garden with me before the weather gets regularly super humid and hot.
@WittyVitale Her interview with Zohran is great. Not everyone can handle a Crackhead Barney interaction but he approached it with respect and an open attitude and it was very refreshing to see.
@WittyVitale@JackieSeidel1 Katherine Patersonโs Jacob Have I Loved still sticks in my brain. What a complex story about sisterhood. It shows the respect that the author had for young people, to write with that audience in mind.
@WittyVitale 3M 8511 seems to work ok. Itโs a cup style so not sure about whether it provides a great fit - you can buy one or two to try. Valved masks can seem iffy ethically since your breath is getting let out but since most ppl arenโt masking, then the assumption is they donโt care. 2/2
@WittyVitale My partner joined a local gym a few months ago and was having the same issue of getting too hot and a ton of condensation in the N95 masks we had in the house (various duckbills, Champak). I got him 3M 8511 ones from Home Depot to try because they have a valve. 1/2
@WittyVitale I totally understand. I wonder if itโs disability justice advocacy that compelled the theater to offer a masked option, or if someone โfrom the insideโ of that theaterโs ecosystem requested it. But it didnโt translate to any true solidarity or intention.
@WittyVitale After Breaking Bad, you have to watch Better Call Saul. Jonathan Banks is SO GOOD. Not a spoiler: he was nominated for Emmy (never won) but the winner shouted him out at the podium specifically for a monologue in BCS.
The coverage of the ICE execution by PBS has been shameful. It's a case study in copaganda. They brought on Obama's former ICE director to distract from core issues, sow confusion about whether what happened was justified, and promote more $$ for police/ICE "training" industry.
And, separately, it will be important as public anger rightly increases, for all the Minnesota and national Democrats--who boosted ICE, proudly celebrated arming and growing ICE, taunted Republicans for being too weak on immigration enforcement, and bragged about building this fascist infrastructure--to make it seem like a bad apple situation and not the predictable consequence of the tens of billions they voted for and the shameless rhetoric they peddled fear-mongering about immigration and how the solution to supposed problems was more violent immigration enforcement.
It's also important for ICE to erase that this kind of public execution was entirely avoidable in any reasonable society. There was no need for a deployment like this, no need for the street interaction here, no need for the drawing of weapons, no need for firing, etc...
Anyone who has read Copaganda knows that we are in the crucial early moments of virality after an extra-judicial police murder. It's extremely important for ICE that the media plays along with the idea that what happened is contested and there are multiple perspectives.
