Just a lifelong Christian, grateful to come Home. Lover of liturgy, history, adoption, wonder, beauty, tough questions, the Inklings, and my hubby and son.
@knowthefaithpx 2/2) Read Roman Pilgrimage by George Wiegel, Letters To A Young Catholic (same author), both immerse you in art and history of specific churches and holy sites, and connect you to the theology of the Catholic mind, meanings, and worship behind it all. It’s all connected.
@knowthefaithpx This is actually a great question. The breathtaking, awe-inspiring beauty you find in the Catholic Church can only flow from the Catholic mind. The more questions you ask while gazing at it, the more the answers will astound you. Books to help: Roman Pilgramage (1/2) …
@JoanOfArc287 5) I am grateful to have a father who was clergy. It shaped me in ways others can’t understand. But it’s a sacrifice to always share your father/husband. Without the parish’s support, encouragement, and love, the priest’s family can be crushed. Don’t let that happen on your watch
@JoanOfArc287 As a convert into Catholicism after being a Protestant pastor’s child and then a Protestant pastor’s wife… then getting to know married conversion Catholic priests…. My first visceral response is this: (thread)
@JoanOfArc287 (4) this entire family needs your prayers and support. In Eastern rites parishioners recognize and appreciate the family-priestly balance, and it is easier for all. In the Roman rite, the balance is harder. Remember - that family is also sharing their dad/spouse.
@JoanOfArc287 (1) he is a real priest, who - with his wife and kids - has sacrificed more than you can begin to imagine, likely already having lost friends and possibly family members to become Catholic, then more, coming into the Roman rite where celibacy is the norm.
@JoanOfArc287 3) Help people see the priest’s family as human beings trying to support the priest’s calling while often facing ostracism from those they’re trying to serve. Please- please treat the wife with care. She’s likely lost much. Please help the kids feel valued. They’re so vulnerable.
@JoanOfArc287 (2) his wife and kids are likely already experiencing incredible backlash from people, possibly including social isolation and dehumanization, because they embody the unfamiliar and people in the Roman rite don’t know how to treat them. Some therefore persecute.
Guys! I need to introduce you to Alex and Roy, on their journey into full communion (Alex=convert, Roy=revert). On the way, they’re letting the Catholic Church speak for herself by listening to the stories of her churches around UK. Watch! Subscribe! https://t.co/DoSjaZriuu

@Pursley1Pursley @JenOrvis@BishopBarron Jen and Matt, your conversations- bring back memories! I was a pastor's kid and missionary, and my husband was a pastor for 20 years. We awoke to many of your same questions reading the church fathers. Asked hard questions. Went thru RCIA + became Catholic in 2019. You can DM me!
Ordinary Catholics are praying when they do not think they are. They are praying when they offer implicitly all they are doing to God.
