The goodness of even a few people can overcome the fear of many. We must be like an open Bible for everyone. May others encounter the Word of God in our faces and lives. Love is the language that makes everyone feel at home. #ApostolicJourney
Pope Leo XIV said Sunday that the mystery of the Holy Trinity teaches Christians to see every creature as made for communion — and warned that division, polarization, and contempt for differences leave the world spiritually barren.
Speaking before the Angelus on May 31, the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, the pope reflected on Jesus’ encounter with Nicodemus in the Gospel of John, saying the feast reveals that God’s own life is a communion of love into which humanity is invited.
“The Trinity helps us to love everyone and everything: we discover that every creature is made for communion, relationship and encounter,” Pope Leo said from the window of the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter’s Square. “On the other hand, we understand why division, polarization and contempt for diversity bring destruction, sadness and barrenness to the world.”
The pope said the Church’s Easter journey, which concluded last week with Pentecost, helps believers contemplate the divine life given to humanity in Christ — a communion of love that draws believers in through the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit, he said, “unites the Father and the Son” and “has been poured into our hearts.” In this way, he added, “the Church becomes a sacrament of communion, a place of encounter, love and life where heaven and earth already touch.”
Turning to Nicodemus, whom the Gospel describes as an important figure in Israel who came to Jesus at night, Leo said Christ “welcomed him and took his search for answers seriously.”
Jesus, the pope said, “surprised Nicodemus by suggesting that it was even possible for an adult to be reborn and led him to realize that the life of God could transform his own life.”
Leo noted that Nicodemus later defended Jesus before the Sanhedrin, urging others to listen before condemning him.
“He had received the Spirit of communion from God through Christ himself, which opens the heart to new truths and to true renewal,” the pope said. “Whoever does not welcome this Spirit grows old quickly, in sorrow, feeling all alone and without joy in their hearts.”
By contrast, Leo said, the solemnity of the Trinity is “a day of celebration.”
“God’s feast is also ours,” he said, citing St. Paul’s exhortation to the Corinthians: “Rejoice, strive for perfection, encourage one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
After leading the Angelus, the pope recalled the prayers for peace raised throughout the Church during May, a month traditionally dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
“In this month of May, a united chorus of prayers for peace has resounded throughout the Church,” he said. “Above all, through the prayer of the Holy Rosary — like an unbroken chain — the peoples ravaged by war have been entrusted to the intercession of the Virgin Mary.”
“May Divine Wisdom enlighten the consciences of those in authority and guide their decisions toward a sincere search for a just and lasting peace,” he said.
Leo also marked Italy’s 25th National Day of Relief, expressing closeness to the sick and those who care for them.
“I offer my spiritual closeness to the sick and those who care for them; and I thank and encourage all who promote a culture of solidarity and care,” he said.

June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a devotion that reminds us of the immeasurable love Christ has for every human soul.
The origins of this devotion can be traced to the visions received by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque between 1673 and 1675. During these apparitions, Our Lord revealed His Sacred Heart, burning with love, crowned with thorns, and wounded by humanity's indifference. He invited the faithful to respond to that love through prayer, reparation, and trust in His mercy.
In one of these revelations, Jesus asked that the Friday after the Octave of Corpus Christi be dedicated to honoring His Sacred Heart. What began as a private revelation eventually spread throughout France before being extended to the entire Church by Pope Pius IX in 1856.
Today, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart remains one of the most beloved feasts of the liturgical year, reminding us that the Heart of Jesus is a refuge for sinners, a source of mercy, and a sign of God's enduring love for humanity.
As we begin this month dedicated to His Sacred Heart, let us entrust our families, our intentions, and our hearts to Christ, who never ceases to love us.
❤️ Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Let us #PrayTogether that sports may be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, in order to promote the values of respect, solidarity, and personal growth. #PrayerIntention@clicktopray_en https://t.co/S3TtsnBEer
During his general audience, Pope Leo XIV urged priests to respect liturgical norms and avoid changing the Mass on their own initiative to prevent confusing the faithful.

Friends, I’m delighted to share that Word on Fire is publishing “Magnifica Humanitas,” the historic first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy.
While many are quick to call it the ‘AI Encyclical,’ Pope Leo’s focus is much broader, highlighting how truth, knowledge, and work are deeply connected to human dignity. It is a timely reminder, especially as social media, AI, and constant screen time begin to alter these core aspects of our lives.

Pope Leo XIV is inviting Catholics around the world to join him in praying a rosary for peace on May 30.
The Holy Father is set to pray the rosary live from the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens at 7 p.m. Rome time. Monsignor Walter R. Rossi, rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will join Pope Leo in praying the rosary with a simultaneous livestream at 1 p.m. ET, according to a May 22 press release.
Shrines that have joined the initiative, coordinated by the Dicastery for Evangelization, include: the Shrine of the Mother of God (Zarvanytsia, Ukraine); the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Antipolo, Philippines); the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary (Fátima, Portugal); the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace (Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina); the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes (Lourdes, France); the Shrine of St. Charbel Annaya (Byblos, Lebanon); and the Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House (Loreto, Italy).
“As the preeminent Marian shrine and patronal church of the United States, the basilica joins shrines throughout the world in this worldwide rosary with the Holy Father,” according to a statement from the basilica in Washington, D.C. “All are invited to participate in this special moment of unity and prayer for peace throughout the world.”
During his homily at Pentecost, Leo called Catholics to pray to the Holy Spirit to “save us from the evil of war, which is overcome not by a superpower but by the omnipotence of love.”
Leo has issued repeated calls for peace around the world, including the Middle East, Africa, and Ukraine, since the start of his pontificate.

Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas

During the presentation of Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV gave thanks to Anthropic co‑founder Christopher Olah – and, in the name of the Church, accepted his invitation “to walk together” in this time of artificial intelligence.
The Holy Spirit does not come empty-handed. He brings gifts that strengthen, enlighten and transform the Christian life. 🕊️
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are not abstract ideas, but graces that help us become more docile to God’s will and more faithful witnesses of the Gospel.
The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit:
1️⃣ Wisdom
Helps us see life through God’s eyes and value what leads us to Him.
2️⃣ Understanding
Helps us grasp the truths of the faith more deeply and allow God’s Word to enter our hearts.
3️⃣ Counsel
Guides us in our choices and helps us distinguish good from evil, especially in difficult moments.
4️⃣ Fortitude
Gives us courage, perseverance and strength to remain faithful in trials.
5️⃣ Knowledge
Helps us recognize God’s presence in creation, in our lives and in His plan for us.
6️⃣ Piety
Opens our hearts to love God as Father and to live with charity toward others.
7️⃣ Fear of the Lord
Is not terror, but reverence, trust and the desire not to turn away from God.
When we open our hearts to these gifts, the Holy Spirit renews us from within and helps us live as true disciples of Christ.
Come, Holy Spirit.
Fill our hearts and guide us on the path to Heaven. 🙏
On the solemnity of Pentecost, which this year is celebrated on May 24, Catholics have the opportunity to gain a plenary indulgence by praying or singing the hymn “Veni Creator Spiritus”, under the usual conditions:
Detachment from all sin, even venial.
Sacramental confession, holy Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the pope.
These conditions can be fulfilled a few days before or after performing the works to gain the indulgence, but it is appropriate that Communion and the prayer take place on the same day that the work is completed.
A single sacramental confession is sufficient for several plenary indulgences, but frequent sacramental confession is encouraged in order to obtain the grace of deeper conversion and purity of heart.

Pope Leo XIV visited Acerra, in Italy’s “Land of Fires,” a territory scarred by illegal toxic waste dumping and environmental pollution. The visit carried special meaning for the local Church: Pope Francis had hoped to come here in 2020, but the trip was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Inside the Cathedral, Pope Leo met bishops, clergy, religious, and families who lost loved ones to pollution-related illnesses, saying he had come to “gather their tears.” Later, in Piazza Calipari, around 15,000 faithful welcomed the Holy Father for a public meeting with local mayors and communities. There, he spoke of hope, renewal, and the need for a wounded land to keep walking toward rebirth.
Pope Leo XIV says the AI age and our response to it is an essential theme for the Church, as she seeks to help everyone grow to full maturity.
