@CCMarimba@grok@Euphoric696@mattyglesias Fwiw, Google’s AI mode estimates that 7-7.5% of U.S. households have kids under Kindergarten age. https://t.co/VyxNb1PZO7
Given that some HH don’t pay for outside childcare and some who do might not view it as unaffordable, these poll results seem relatively believable.
@JHWeissmann Would love to see a net assets overlay to this. My sense has been that it is the growth in early-life debt burden, and rising home prices (and therefore perceived inability to turn income into wealth) that has been the root of Millennial angst.
@Chrystar226@BravoKiloActual@AOC You’re thinking of De Blasio. On the off chance that facts make a difference to your opinions, that’s a another person altogether from Brad Lander.
@Noahpinion Try Naomi Novik’s Temeraire books - Patrick O’Brien + dragons. Novik is a chameleonic author - her Scholamance series has a very modern, Millennial voice, but Spinning Silver has the ageless feel of a fairy tale.
@stikves @SofiaExchange @ArmandDoma Not what the AI reply you got said, tho? Said that it could only obtain counts for Adobe and Nvidia, and didn’t get those from SIGGRAPH but from Adobe’s PR and articles about Nvidia. Perhaps your original claim is true, but that didn’t even partly prove it.
@adamthemuse@HugoVale_@mcuban@elonmusk@DOGE The genesis of that site was Federal Funding Accountability & Transparency Act, introduced in the Senate in 2006 by Sen Obama, McCain, Coburn, Carper. It’s been up since 2008. Crazy that everyone is suddenly “discovering” it and acting like DOGE had something to do with it
Been dormant/lurking on X since Musk made it a mess. Seems like the writers, wonks & entrepreneurs I originally joined Twitter to follow are reconvening on BlueSky. I’ve tried it and like it, so deleting this account soon. Find me there @cebrag.bsky.social - come say hi!
@mattyglesias Points to an elegant solution for keeping campaign promises: Trump imposes $2T of tariffs. DOGE recommends eliminating $2T of wasteful import taxes. Return to status quo, but now Trump & Musk can bask in the adulation for their genius. Everyone wins.
@bronxilla@bfurnas@ycinnewyork Where in the report do you see a big difference between homeowners’ and renters’ opinions? They look pretty similar on most questions. Anyway, as an NYC homeowner myself, I don’t agree that homeowners have sacrificed any more than renters to live in this city.
@bronxilla@bfurnas Did you click through to the detailed report via the link provided? They asked about each element of the proposal separately as well as in aggregate and there was net positive support for every individual element except for the shared housing proposal.
@rogocyebrek@simonyemane Positivity ≠ delusion. Nor is it the same as being uncritical. But yes, I do think the extremely emotional negativity reflected by some fans online probably spills over to other parts of their lives and likely hurts their mental and physical health.
