So, the “Innocent” Tangkhul Naga individuals whose arrests prompted civilians, backed by the UNC, to target an Assam Rifles post have now been identified as militants responsible for Ambush on Assam’s rifles in Ukhrul in which Indian army lost 2 soldiers .

Same CSO’s like UNC, TNL want Indian army and AR to be removed so that NSCN militants can rule Ukhrul district and they get their cut every month . Sad but reality of Manipur , sole reason why Nagaland kicked NSCN led by Tangkhul’s out of Nagaland.

Asoso Yonuo writes in The Rising Nagas:

"the British [East India] Company government encouraged Gambhir Singh, the King of Manipur, to subdue the Nagas and extend his rule over them if he could''. Enthralled by this elusive promise, Gambhir Singh accepted the vicarious responsibility, fought them and claimed his authority up to Kohima."

That is absolutely right. As per Mackenzie, the British not only armed and equipped a 2,000-man Manipur Levy, they supplied arms for another 2,000 men so that Gambhir Singh could reduce the "refractory hill tribes".

The Gazetteer of Manipur states that "by the aid of the firearms now in his possession", Gambhir Singh reduced the Kabuis, Tangkhuls and Angamis. That is how a vast amount of hill territory became part of Manipur.

So, when the Meiteis say, this is all our "ancestral inheritance" from 33 AD and "our forefathers sacrificed their lives for it" and all such crock, boo them and walk away.

What a selective exercise of power and bullets. The use of force appears to depend on who stands before the gun. The same uniform seems to enforce different standards in different places, raising serious questions about fairness and accountability.

On the basis of credible inputs from own sources, a joint team of Manipur Police, NIA and CRPF launched a precise operation to apprehend two accused who were allegedly involved in killing of 6 (six) Naga individuals on 13/05/2026 in Leilon Vaiphei village.

The operation was launched in the early morning hours at Leilon Vaiphei.
In the operation, following individuals were apprehended:
1. Pradip s/o Tomba, R/O Leilon Vaiphei village
2. ⁠Ayingbi w/o Pradip, R/O Leilon Vaiphei village

Necessary search and seizure procedures were carried out.

Necessary legal formalities are being conducted.
