Shortly after 9/11, and while the fires were still smouldering, Cambridge academic and darling of the BBC Mary Beard wrote about ‘the feeling that, however tactfully you dress it up, the US had it coming.’

At around that time, another Cambridge academic was writing pamphlets for now-banned jihadist terror groups which urged Muslims to study computing ‘to develop advanced weaponry for jihad’. She still holds a role in Jason Arday’s old faculty, where I studied (We only know about this because of the scrutiny placed on that department by the Arday scandal).

The rot within academia, even in the most elite institutions in the world, runs very deep. And it isn’t new.

Some of the youngest victims of 9/11 were kids on Flight 77 on their way to a National Geographic marine biology field trip in California.

Asia Cottom, 11, had been selected by National Geographic for an essay she'd written. She boarded Flight 77 along with fellow students Rodney Dickens and Bernard C. Brown and teachers Sara Clark and Hilda Taylor, all seen here at the gate just before boarding on 9/11.

Zoe and Dana Falkenberg, ages 8 and 3, were also on the flight traveling with their parents.

Asia Cottom had stayed up late the night before, excited to get to swim with the dolphins in California. She told her mom she'd just sleep on the plane.

Hijackers Hani Hanjour, Nawaf al-Hazmi, Salem al-Hazmi, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Majed Moqed would've seen all of these kids as they waited to board. They probably saw the National Geographic kids pose for this photo.

Palestinian terrorists stormed the Christian town of Damour in Lebanon and killed 582 Christian civilians.

A priest who survived described it as “the end of the world.”

He said: “They came by the thousands, shouting, ‘Allahu Akbar! Kill them for the Arabs. Let us offer a sacrifice to Muhammad!’ They slaughtered everyone in their path: men, women and children.”

Men were lined up against their homes and shot. Women were tortured and repeatedly raped. Infants were shot in the back of the head. Fetuses were torn from pregnant women’s wombs.

This was one of many massacres by Palestinian terrorists against Christians.

A Slovenian parliamentary security committee is investigating President Nataša Pirc Musar's possible ties to Russian intelligence.

The inquiry began after reports about Victoria Krivolutskaya, a dual Russian-Slovenian citizen and a longtime business partner and close friend of the president.

In late July, Pirc Musar was hospitalized after a car accident. Krivolutskaya was also in the president’s official car at the time.

Slovenian media had previously reported Krivolutskaya’s links to Roman Jeglič, a former Slovenian intelligence officer who fled to Russia in the mid-1990s.

Both the opposition and the ruling party are calling for Pirc Musar to be stripped of access to classified information, citing her regular trips to Russia shortly before the war. The president’s office denies all allegations.

Cette femme, Viktorija Krivolucka, est liée par le passé à un ancien responsable des renseignements slovènes ayant fui en Russie dans les années 1990. Le Parlement slovène demande désormais des éclaircissements aux services de renseignement sur une éventuelle ingérence russe.

Compte tenu des connexions révélées, il est parfaitement légitime que les autorités slovènes cherchent à faire toute la lumière sur cette affaire. Dans le contexte actuel, la naïveté n’est plus permise. Les États européens doivent renforcer leur contre-espionnage et surveiller avec une extrême vigilance les tentatives d’approche visant des responsables ayant accès à des informations sensibles.

L’Europe fait face à une Russie qui mène contre elle une confrontation bien plus large que la seule guerre en Ukraine. Depuis des années, la Russie cherche à pénétrer les cercles politiques, économiques et institutionnels européens, tout en utilisant la désinformation et différents réseaux d’influence pour fragiliser nos démocraties.

Qu'en est-il donc pour la Présidente Musar ? Il faudra attendre les résultats de l'enquête.

🚨 President suspected of espionage: major scandal erupts in Slovenia

Nataša Pirc Musar has come under suspicion over alleged ties to Russian intelligence, while the ruling party is already demanding that the president be denied access to classified intelligence briefings.

It all started with an ordinary car accident. It turned out that Pirc Musar was traveling with a Russian friend who is linked to a former deputy head of Slovenian intelligence who fled to Russia back in the 1990s.

Parliament’s security commission called an emergency meeting and demanded that the intelligence services provide a report on possible Russian influence within the president’s inner circle.

Attention has also turned to Pirc Musar’s own trips to Russia. Despite publicly criticizing Russia’s invasion, she regularly visited Moscow and St. Petersburg — including shortly before the start of the full-scale war.

The New York Times breaks the story that in March 2000, a group of Austrian art students called “Gelitin” secretly installed a balcony on the 91st floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

They photographed the balcony by helicopter, and then dismantled it.
