Yet another Shahed violation of Moldovan airspace overnight.
A Shahed violated Moldova's airspace for 17 minutes, crossing from Crutoiarovka, Odessa region and entering/exiting the country near the village of Caplani, in Stefan Voda.

In #Moldova, support for children’s wellbeing is moving from emergency response to local ownership. Find out how we’ve worked with Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC) to adapt and embed it into the national education system. https://t.co/bJ3ubTg6bD

At long last, the world is paying attention to the alarming, horrific rise in Israeli settler violence against defenceless Palestinian children, women, and men across the West Bank.
Countless families have been brutally forced out of their homes.
A new report from the West Bank Protection Consortium (WBPC), led by NRC, documents the endless suffering of families forced to flee.
Based on interviews with 233 displaced households, the report highlights the dramatic increase in enforced displacement since October 2023. Families lose access to their own land and grazing areas that sustained their livelihoods. They end up in substandard and unsafe shelters, and continue to face threats of further displacement.
The report documents that:
🔴95% of families say settler violence is what forces them to leave their homes and communities
🔴86% say their living conditions are worse than before displacement
🔴84% have lost access to the land and resources they previously depended on
🔴Nearly half fear they could be displaced again within the next six months
🔴Only 6% believe they will be able to return home within the next year
The settler violence, insecurity, loss of land access and the expansion of settlements that forced families to flee now prevents them from returning.
This is a protection crisis with long-term consequences for families, communities, and for any future prospects for peace.
These findings should alarm governments that have invested millions of Euros in humanitarian assistance and community resilience in the West Bank. Schools, shelters, water systems, livestock support, and other donor-funded projects have repeatedly been damaged, confiscated, demolished or abandoned as communities are displaced.
This situation will not be improved by the issuing of yet more international “expressions of concern.”
States must use all available diplomatic, political, legal and economic measures to help prevent further forcible transfer, ensure accountability for violence against civilians, protect humanitarian and donor-funded infrastructure, and uphold international law, including ending the occupation.
Most importantly, Palestinian families should be able to live safely on their land, free from violence, coercion and the threat of displacement.

Will Israel listen?
22 donor countries express their “profound concern regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation that persists in Gaza. The aid entering Gaza has remained largely insufficient, both in quantity and in quality, while nearly the entire population depends on life-saving services.”
The Europeans plus Australia and Japan also find “deeply concerning” the extreme Israeli registration law that bans NRC and many of the world’s most important humanitarian NGOs from serving Palestinians from Israel.
🇲🇩 Maia Sandu: Moldova is safe today thanks to the bravery of Ukrainian people. We owe them our peace.
War is also affecting Moldova. We've seen many drones violating our air space. We're counting on support from Ukraine and developing our own air surveillance and air defense.
Russian war goes beyond Ukraine and becoming dangerous for all of us. Russia wants to threaten and scare people. Russia is the only country to be blamed. Russia is the aggressor.
I don’t believe Putin wants to sign peace agreement. Russia can be forced to sign one only when its economic situation is bad enough. For that, sanctions should continue.
As Ukraine marks four years of full-scale war, millions of people remain uprooted.
Here are some of their stories. Stories of journeys, of loss and uncertainty, and of the things people miss the most. https://t.co/DQZDNhTL4S
President of Moldova Maia Sandu stated that if there were a referendum on unification with Romania, she would vote yes because:
"It is getting more and more difficult for a small country like Moldova to survive as a democracy, as a sovereign country, and of course to resist Russia."
Larger countries might interpret this as a sign of weakness, yet to me it reflects her awareness of just how far russia is prepared to go to restore its empire.
In January 2025, a sudden halt in gas supplies left over 350,000 people in the #Transnistrian region of #Moldova without reliable heat in -15°C temperatures. Among them, 6,000 Ukrainians who had fled the war in their home country.

Catastrophic explosion in humanitarian needs in war-ravaged Ukraine: The share of civilians needing food and water aid has increased from 44% to 70% since September, NRC data shows. Almost 40% have exhausted all savings and are accumulating debt.
3 years since the war in #Ukraine escalated, displaced Ukrainians and their hosts in #Moldova are still struggling. Basic aid is not enough – they need jobs, shelter, stability. As Moldova’s energy crisis deepens, sustained support is vital. Fatigue must not turn into neglect.
“It is peaceful here. I no longer hear explosions or feel the walls shake as they did back in Ukraine,” says Evghenia, a 93-year-old Ukrainian who found refuge in #Moldova after leaving everything behind. Read her story ⬇️ https://t.co/pvYsvRdnTL
We welcome the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which includes the release of hostages and increased aid to Gaza. We urge the Israeli cabinet to approve this agreement in its upcoming session, expected by Thursday.

The situation for over 300,000 in Transnistria, between Moldova & Ukraine is extremely precarious.
The disputed region faces an energy cliff-edge in January when a crucial gas supplies through Ukraine is due to be cut off.

It was a privilege to see how NRC staff are supporting refugee families with shelter and warmth as winter takes hold here

Moldova's "Socialists" Party say they don't recognise elections & the diaspora vote. They're trying to move attention away from the vote fraud. + They forget that the diaspora was first created bc of their corrupt & poor governance in the early 2000s during Voronin
The country is split in two. The data strictly on voting within Moldova are: 51% for Stoianoglo (693,000) and 49% for Sandu (~660,000). The narratives that Russia will probably use will be the following: Stoianoglo is the president in Moldova & Sandu is the president of the diaspora. That’s why Sandu’s government would have to change a lot to address the protest vote and consolidate the unity.👇
Moldovan elections are the best “evidence” of stolen Georgia’s elections: despite similar Russian interference and massive rigging, Moldova was saved by 300.000 diaspora voters… our 1000.000 strong diaspora was barred. only 34 000 were “allowed” to vote.
