@cmpsciencecentr & @CellTrackTech made a very very tiny butterfly backpack, with built-in Bluetooth! They're solar powered & weigh as little as a grain of rice!🦋🎒📡
Xerces & others have backpack'd monarchs in several locations — now it’s up to you to help us track them! 2/🧵
And it's out! Take a look at our paper, we show how we installed an automated radio telemetry stystem to track hummingbirds in high-mountain ecosystems in Colombia: https://t.co/9RyXMtD2Cs
we are thrilled to be a part of the Motus network with our sensor stations (generally referred to as/encompassed in "Motus station" and "receiver stations" in the article) and #radio tags!📻
Birds in care:
Recent reports of increasing number of emaciated Brown Pelicans coming into care, serve as a stark reminder that our work in wildlife rehabilitation never truly ends.

Hungry pelicans are still taking risks to find food, endangering themselves in the process. Out of 300+ Brown Pelican admissions, approximately one-third of them are arriving with injuries, many of which are caused by fishing hook and line entanglement. Many of these injuries require surgery and long-term care.
