"This is the Prayer Book's whole strategy for forming ordinate love. It gathers the whole church together to pray God's own words back to him until those words become the shape of our own hearts."

In this lecture, Dr. @bryanchollon, president of @TASeminary , uses the Book of Common Prayer to explain how it is meant to order our affections. Listen to Episode #183 now:

"We are self-centered rather than God-centered. That's the status of all who sin. A heart like that cannot be trusted to know what it needs because it wants the wrong thing, and it's not been challenged to want anything else, which is precisely the mistake that expressive individualism makes about worship." —Dr. Bryan Hollon

"We actually coined a phrase to describe what my students experienced. We called it post-biblical Protestant evangelicalism. Church for most of these evangelicals was an entirely passive experience of consumption." —Dr. Bryan Hollon

Continue to pray for James Dolezal. As @MattMBarrett says, we naturally have postponed the lecture for The Center for Classical Theology this November. We have great hope for James' recovery moving forward.

[Matthew Barrett @MattMBarrett]

I'm grateful God sustained the life of James Dolezal. He's a good friend. I was delighted to hear from him recently. Naturally, we postponed @CenterClassical this Nov. James hopes to deliver it one day. In the meantime, keep praying for his recovery. https://t.co/iJd8DTTzt9

“We're so committed to producing shallow Christians that people who aren't satisfied with being shallow in their faith need to leave and feed themselves, which is an extraordinary thing. I can't imagine the Lord Jesus saying to Peter, Peter, don't feed my sheep. If you love me, don't feed my sheep.” —Scott Clark

@MattMBarrett and @RScottClark discuss the Heidelberg Catechism and the need for spiritual formation in modern Christianity. Listen to Episode #180 now.
