@ostonox@CaptainBarkov@nikicaga Again you are comparing California to Texas. Even assuming your argument about why Steyer lost is accurate you’re talking about two completely different electorates. Ds haven’t won a statewide race in Texas in 30 years and Trump won by 14 in 2020, it sucks but it is what it is
@Pirrisaurio@TrueSlazac@RepealTCPA1947 And Elon is a dumbass, maybe the biggest example ever of a guy who knows about one thing and thinks it makes him an expert in everything
@ayborgthatguy@laesobased@tastefullysaucy That’s the point, they’re not enlisting for a noble cause they’re enlisting for material reasons (e.g college). You can still think they’re wrong to do so (I do) but if we want to change things we have to recognize it’s not as simple as “bc they’re all evil and want to kill”
@MattZeitlin I’m not sure how exactly how much it mattered but at least part of it imo was how quickly it became obvious he won on election night, the actual margin was pretty slim but the result was obvious pretty much immediately
@hecubian_devil Like yeah in an ideal world people’s politics wouldn’t be dictated by how personally affable people who espouse certain beliefs are, but if there world were ideal we wouldn’t have to have these conversations at all
@USA_Polling Genuinely even if he is Fetterman would be by far the best senator from Texas in decades, as a Texan I’d walk over glass to vote for actual Fetterman if it meant getting rid of Cornyn
@jmproductionsyt@jamaloh_james Genuinely wild that even with everything he’s done we still might not see a 100th percentile Ohtani season, a full season with 2022/26 level pitching and 2023-25 hitting might be like a 14-15 war season
@Mike_from_PA Even if there were any similarities between them, which there aren’t, Fetterman would be by far the best senator from Texas in decades. As a Texan I’d walk through glass to vote for Fetterman if it meant getting rid of Cornyn or Cruz
@XenuRulez@bobo_circus@SupriyaGanesh Feel how you want but snitch tagging an actor into discourse about their character is absolutely ridiculous. What are you hoping to accomplish here
@thebenchesclear I think you could do something really interesting with baseball actually reverting in this case, like 15,000 years in the future the most popular form of baseball is played with 1880s rules with stuff like pitchers only throwing underhand and 9 balls for a walk
@Jamie154182@Seanchuckle In the context of a country where “being right wing” means “supporting and advocating for genocide and apartheid” then yeah I’d say so
@jmproductionsyt To me it seems like it has to do with the fact that stat totals are mostly lower/easier to keep track of in baseball, plus it’s so much older so something like 3k hits has been engrained in people’s minds as an important milestone for so long
