We are delighted to share that Shona Pate, manager of the @BarnardosScot Visitor Centre at HMP Edinburgh, has received a second @ButlerTrust Award for going above and beyond in supporting families of those in our care throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lateral Flow Tests are now available to collect from Prison Visitors' Centres
Reduce the risk to you, the person you are visiting, and SPS staff.
Lets keep visits open. Test before you visit please.
Even if you are able to end self-isolation early following 2 negative LFD test results, NHS Inform recommend that you do not visit people in care homes, hospitals or prisons for the full 10-day isolation period. For more info and advice, please visit: https://t.co/3vLbvRalpn
@David1Logan2@scottishprisons Physical visits are ongoing in Shotts, we do have some halls isolating at present which means men on those halls cannot book visits but those halls which are not isolating are still able to book visits.
Very disappointing to see @ScotTories calling for the immediate withdrawal of in cell telephony with no engagement with families affected by imprisonment across Scotland. In cell mobiles have been a life line for families.
Following the First Minister's announcement on 14 December, a small update to our Visiting Guidance has been uploaded to our Covid-19 Information Hub: https://t.co/fTRY2bVHB2
@pf_scotland thank you so much for your very kind donation from the Angel Tree! We would not be able to make our boxes so special without it. More pictures to follow when they are complete.
Shopping for our Christmas Eve boxes has commenced! We are delighted to be able to go all out this year to bring happiness and joy to children visiting HMP Shotts. 🎅 🌲 ⛄️
Tomorrow starts Anti Bullying Week. The theme this year is One Kind Word. We have some activities for children and all important goody bags to hand out! There is also be a kindness tree in the centre for you to leave “One Kind Word” to help others who may be struggling.
If you've been bereaved through the death of a relative in Scottish Prison & are willing to talk with me, please get in touch. There is so little research into families experience and I want us to change that, together.

@Kir_Anderson @HMPJustVisiting Length of visit is also an issue. 45 minutes in our establishment. Before covid they were 90 minutes. Many of our families travel substantial distance and can’t justify the travel time and cost for 45 minutes.
Excited to be attending the National Prison Visitors’ Centre Conference “Reopening the Doors”. Compassion so important, and treating people with dignity, and visitor centres a vital part in this. Great to see @Bookbug_SBT in some of the photos! #reopeningthedoors
Attendees at #Reopeningthedoors have heard from Chief Executive of @scottishprisons Teresa Medhurst.
Teresa highlighted the "pivotal" role Visitor Centres' have played during COVID and continue to have in supporting families affected by imprisonment.
Emotional watching a brill video showcasing the amazing work visitor centres like @CentreHmp have been doing during last yr+ to help families & prisoners. Biased to see Bookbug represented! But such a range of innovative ways used by all #reopeningthedoors@HMPJustVisiting
