It’s most certainly the move before another move. Don’t know if that will be this offseason or next, but I have faith in Brad Stevens to do what needs to be done. In today’s NBA where depth actually matters, it benefits you to have a massive expiring like that next year to make up the money for whatever disgruntled star will become available (we know there will be one) so you don’t kill your depth piercing middling contracts.
