A collaborative resource facilitating access to standardised and collated #cetacean#monitoring#data from across the NE Atlantic. Managed by @ICES_ASC WGJCDP
The JCDP aims to make cetacean data more accessible to all to provide a stronger base for quality analyses in support of cetacean conservation and management. Head to the info hub for guidance on submitting, viewing or using data:

July marked the 2nd anniversary of launching the JCDP. In just 2 years we have created a set of tools for standardising, storing and accessing effort-based cetacean data and accepted almost 550,000 km of survey effort to the Portal
The JCDP continues to develop in functionality, expanding the data collated on the portal to include other marine species and the development of data products
The JCDP has expanded its scope beyond cetaceans to include of other marine species! #seals, #turtles, large-bodied #sharks, and some fish like ocean #sunfish and #tuna, observed during cetacean surveys.
Recently the @ICES_ASC Working Group for the #JCDP met in Copenhagen to develop some exciting new features and decide on our priorities for the JCDP over the next 3 years. The JCDP has achieved a lot so far but #ItsOnlyTheBeginning#WatchThisSpace
We've updated our website!
The JCDP Information Hub has been updated with the latest updates from the JCDP, and made it easier to find information to help use the JCDP to submit or download cetacean survey data.

The information collected though the #SCANS surveys since 1995 are the foundation of our knowledge of #cetacean species in UK waters, and this latest iteration is key for upcoming species status assessments for UK Habitat Regulations and others
We've hit a big milestone for the #JCDP!
Aerial #cetacan#survey data from #SCANS II and III have been uploaded and are now fully available online. And more data to come soon!
