He thinks of this as a television drama reality show.
He is literally just producing a tv show.
Shame on the New York Times for choosing profit over democracy.
James Dorsey is 94 years old. Born on Ellerbe Plantation in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1931. He still does not have a birth certificate because the plantation never recorded his existence. The effects of slavery did not end with emancipation. They followed our people into the most basic records of identity. This is NOT ancient history.
The biggest trend I’ve noticed in my 1-1 coaching is that the smartest people radically underestimate themselves. I’m always astounded at how extremely intelligent people’s self-image is often hugely lacking, which is exacerbated by seeing that the people they *know* are not as smart as them, trying stuff and feeling good about themselves and growing and learning simply because they’re doing the thing.
This creates a destructive loop of feeling inadequate because they are doubting themselves > inaction > seeing other people’s lives progress as they don’t > feel even less than the people they thought they were better than > more self doubt > repeat
The antidote to this is to literally just believe in yourself and do things.
Be willing to have no fucking clue what you’re doing for a while. It’s literally fine
Everyone is winging it anyway, mostly
And if you mess up, you learn, you grow, you try again
In gymnastics, we only learned new skills when we were willing to fall on our face literally tens of times till the skill started to make sense in our bodies and eventually feel easy / natural
Life is like this too
Stop waiting. Expect to mess up a few times when you try something new. It’s fine. No one cares really. No one is watching. Even if they are, maybe they need to see you try and fail too. Don’t be scared. You want it! You want to get better. I know you do. So show up and try. Get out of your own way. It’s not that deep. You’re capable. I promise. Literally just believe in yourself. You need to. Everyone who is winning does or once did. That’s the key. The only key. Permission and self belief. You’re so capable. Just do it.
You really can do all this on your own, but if you’re reading this and thinking ‘I need someone to actually help me get over the line of my own resistance / doubt and actually live out the thing I say I want’, DM me
this was so incredible, i love how she said that being like catnip is much about embodying your eroticism in ways that bring all of your senses to life. it has a lot to with aliveness, succulence, juiciness. the pizazz of walking in with your shoulders arched back, festivity (joie de vivre), enjoying all of life’s sensual sensory pleasures with unsuppressed hunger and curiosity. you become incredibly seductive when you burst with joy for life, because that joy is generative for you.
erotic wholeness empowers every aspect of a woman’s life, especially creativity and the charge of life-force. you need to learn how to be easily orgasmic, easily indulgent, ready for receiving pleasure in every capacity, because that is a source of your power, and it’s infinitely regenerative.
i also loved it when she said that a good reason for studying the goddesses, the mythical women of deep history, is because you get to see female sexuality unmediated by civilization. you see female hyper-sexuality without any patriarchal suppression, in its rawest purest form, and the tendency is for women’s sexual expression to be completely uncurbed and feral.
Don’t let your life 'narrow'.
I’ve been an orthopedic surgeon for 30 years. The thing I watch happen to people — more than any injury or surgery — is what I call the narrowing.
Most of my patients have no idea it’s happening. They think it’s just aging. It’s not...
Doing this new thing where I try to cancel out my “This person doesn’t actually like me” brain worms by activating my “It is imperative not to harm a loved one” directive with the observation “This person would feel hurt by being doubted like that”
Our house rule is you don't have to go to sleep if you're reading. So my 8 year old is now reading 6th grade reading level because he likes thinking that he's getting away with staying up after bedtime. Win/win.
This is the stupidity we're talking about: She got an abortion after helping ban them. Blamed the democrats for the struggle she had to get one. And doesn't want interviews talking about it to be public.
With the Roberts Court, it can always get worse on voting rights. Allows ruling covering 7 states to stand that prevents victims of voting discrimination from enforcing part of Voting Rights Act. Congress passed this law in 1965 to protect voters. How can they not even use it?
