If you have recently moved into a new home and your smoke alarm looks like this, remove the red plastic ring immediately! It is used during construction to prevent any dust or particulate from getting into your alarm but must be removed to detect smoke or CO.

I am having a great time and learning lots here at the Fire Prevention Officers Association of BC Conference. My presentation on Tues was very well accepted, lots of questions yesterday and today about the CFAA. The conference facility Tigh-Na-Mara Resort and Spa is top notch.
@mike_holmesjr In 1988 I worked part time at Bell but they went on strike....I heard through a friend Edwards fire alarm manufacturer was hiring in Owen Sound. I started into my Fire Alarm career that has lasted over 30yrs and am now Director of Education at the Canadian Fire Alarm Association

We know you don't smoke in bed, in fact most people don't smoke indoors. Our cigarette fires are started outside; in gardens, flower pots, on fences. Butt out completely with sand or water. #SmokeSafely
