[Kiran Rajput @_KiranRajput]

H'ble @nsitharaman , Below, you state that you haven't increased any taxes on the Equity, claiming the only hike was the STT on F&O
What about rise in LTCG & STCG?

Ma'am,
Before October 2004
Long-term gains on listed shares were taxed at 20% with indexation, or 10% without — whichever worked out lower. Short-term gains had no special treatment at all. They were simply added to your income and taxed at your slab, which meant 30% for anyone in the top bracket. There was no STT.

October 2004:
The Finance (No.2) Act 2004 made a trade. LTCG on listed equity went to zero under Section 10(38). STCG got a flat concessional rate of 10% under Section 111A. In exchange, a new levy was introduced — STT, collected at source on every trade, at 0.075% on both the buy and the sell of a delivery transaction.
The logic was elegant: instead of chasing capital gains through assessment, collect a small amount from everyone, automatically, at the exchange. Compliance went up, litigation went down.

2005: Delivery STT raised to 0.10%
2006: Raised again to 0.125%
2008: STCG raised from 10% to 15%
2012: Delivery STT cut back to 0.10% — where it still sits today
This is cruelty,
**2018: LTCG exemption withdrawn. Section 112A brings back 10% on gains above ₹1 lakh, with gains up to 31 January 2018 grandfathered**

**2024: LTCG raised to 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh. STCG raised to 20%**

2026: Budget raises STT on futures and options only. Delivery untouched
Very Good.

LTCG was in lieu of STT. Why you retained & increasing both?
Please make LTCG 0 & STCG 10%. Please.🙏🙏

Anojan called us himself and said he had injuries in six places on his head," Mr. Rajeevkanth said Wednesday. "He was crying as he told us that he had been attacked with a sharp weapon."

In Parliament, Mr. Rasamanickam said the family had been told that Mr. Anojan was struck on the head with a knife and that his life had been in danger. According to the family, he said, Mr. Anojan had been moved from the prison where he was previously held to another prison, where he was attacked by a prisoner in the section for inmates under sentence of death.

Sivarasa Anojan, the Sri Lankan migrant worker facing execution in Saudi Arabia, told his family that he had been attacked with a sharp weapon in prison, according to a civil society activist working closely with his relatives. Sri Lanka's government, relying on information from Saudi prison authorities, told Parliament on Wednesday that his injuries had been caused by another inmate's fingernails.

He had to face jail at the age of 14 because of this. Now, he faces 42 court hearings a month.

Anojan is facing execution in Saudi Arabia over a FB comment, over a video of a Muslim man kicking a dog following Hindu pilgrims in Sri Lanka. After a Muslim insulted a Hindu deity online, Anojan responded by insulting Prophet Muhammad. For that, he's been sentenced to death. Barbaric society.

A dog used to follow pilgrims to a Hindu religious site in Sri Lanka, and videos of it were shared warmly in Sri Lankan Hindu circles.

In late June, offended by the videos, a Muslim man went to the pilgrimage site, located the dog, kicked it, and uploaded the video, sparking outrage. During one such argument, a Sri Lankan Muslim wrote a derogatory post against the Hindu deity.

Anojan Sivarasa, a Sri Lankan Hindu working as a laborer in Saudi Arabia, didn't like the comment and responded with a reply that was allegedly derogatory to the Prophet.

Anojan's well-wisher immediately warned him. He took down the comment and issued a video apology within five minutes in which he said he was responding to an insult to his faith. However, it was too late. Anojan's fellow Sri Lankan Muslims had already taken a screenshot and emailed it to his employer in Saudi Arabia. His employer promptly reported it to the authorities, who arrested Anojan and put him on trial. He has been sentenced to death.

Saudi Arabia rarely reverses a decision once it has made one, but there should be global outrage over this. Blasphemy laws or whatever, the man was only responding to an insult to his faith, deleted the comment, and issued an apology within minutes, yet he will still have to pay with his life while those who provoked him are rejoicing in Sri Lanka. This is unacceptable. Anyone calling themselves a free speech supporter and not opposing this is a hypocrite of the highest order.

BJP MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwari from Garhwa, Jharkhand, booked under the SC/ST Act.

One family filed 21 cases under the SC/ST Act, 14 against a single family, forcing them to face 42 court hearings every month.

Villagers told us that the ‘oppressed’ family received ₹46 lakh in compensation. People now fear speaking about it openly.

But off camera, everyone tells the same story about a ‘business model’ built around SC/ST cases.

How a law meant to prevent atrocities became a tool for profit. Watch @Keshavmalan93’s special investigation to find out.
