The UI was beautiful. The performance? Not always. 😅📱

But does every performance problem actually need fixing?

At #ChainReact2026, Nick Kaffine from @ChalkboardHQ shares how years of chasing React Native performance issues changed the way he thinks about them.

From slow renders to a home screen taking 5 seconds to fully display, the question became less “How do we make this faster?” and more “How fast does it actually need to be?”

See why they DIDN'T fix everything. 👇

What if users could interact with your app without actually opening it? 📱✨

At #ChainReact2026, @plahteenlahti from @RevenueCat shows how App Intents can bring React Native apps into Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, widgets and more.

Perttu gets into connecting your JavaScript-driven app with Apple's native system experiences, what needs to happen in Swift and the lessons he learned the hard way.

React Native has changed a lot since 2017. 📱⚡️

No FlatList. Manual linking. Fragile upgrades. Then came hooks, Hermes, the new architecture and a much more mature ecosystem.

At #ChainReact2026, Alex Lanclos looks back at that evolution and what it meant for @SkylightFrame.

When Alex joined, parts of the codebase were years behind, but new features still needed to ship.

Fast-forward to 2026 and it's a very different codebase, with React Compiler, TanStack DB and offline-first data now part of the story. 🛠️

An impressive demo used to feel like a big deal.

Now? That's the baseline. 📱⚡️

At #ChainReact2026, @sethwebster asks what happens after the demo.

With AI agents, React Native and Expo making it easier to turn ideas into working software, Seth challenges developers to aim bigger.

Build the bigger thing. Stick with it. Put it in people's hands. Be ready for the complaints and the criticism. 😅

The tools give you power. You decide how far to go. 🚀👇

The app on your laptop isn't necessarily the app your users are experiencing. 😬📱

Different devices. Different networks. Different versions.

At #ChainReact2026, @kadikraman from @expo looks at what happens after your app ships and how to understand its real-world performance.

From startup times to problem screens and comparing releases, Kadi shows how production data can reveal what development can't.

Your app is live. Now find out how it's actually doing. 👇

Your app looks good. It works well. But what does it actually FEEL like to use? 📱⚡️

At #ChainReact2026, @kacperkapusciak from @swmansion shows why haptics are seriously underused in mobile apps.

And no, that doesn't mean making every button vibrate. 😅

From confirming actions to making interactions more satisfying, Kacper shows where haptics actually make sense and how apps are using them well.

Haptics won't make a bad app good. But they might make a great app even better. ✨

What if your React Native performance problems start with your state? 📱⚡️

At #ChainReact2026, @jmeistrich shows why fast apps aren't just about optimizing later. They start with how you manage state.

Jay explains how unnecessary rerenders can quietly kill performance and why fine-grained reactivity can make the fast path the easy path.

Because you shouldn't have to fight your architecture to make your app fast.

See what “fast by default” actually looks like! 👇

You haven't even opened your code editor yet.

And your system could already be compromised. ⚠️

At #ChainReact2026, @saltnburnem from @TuxCare_ looks at install-time supply chain attacks and how malicious lifecycle scripts can execute during an npm install.

Using a real 2026 attack on two React Native packages, Chris breaks down why standard checks could miss it and how developers can better protect their environments.

From blocking install scripts to tightening up npm and CI, this is one to watch BEFORE your next npm install. 🔐👇

Your coding agents are moving fast. ⚡️🤖

But can the rest of your development loop keep up?

At #ChainReact2026, @maker__mark shares what happened at @Chime as more builders, PRs and builds exposed bottlenecks that were easier to tolerate before.

The team tackled three areas: build, distribution and validation.

The result? A development loop that could take 21+ minutes compressed to 90 seconds, with PR cycles down more than 30%. 🚀

Mark gets into how they did it, from build caching and Chime's internal dogfooding app to automatically checking whether agent changes actually do what they're supposed to do.

What if writing the code isn't the main job anymore? 👀💻

At #ChainReact2026, @expo co-founder @ccheever looks at where mobile development could be heading as AI agents take on more and more of the coding process.

Charlie makes the case that developers may spend less time buried in code and more time thinking about the product itself: what should it do, how should it look and, importantly, is it actually any good?

And Expo is changing too. With agents already making up a huge share of Expo's tooling users, the team is building more of its SDKs, services and infrastructure with agentic workflows in mind. 🤖📱

Code might change. Taste still matters.

Clicked on one pair of shoes? Cool. Now your entire feed is shoes. 👟👟👟

That's exactly what personalization SHOULDN'T do.

At #ChainReact2026, Megha Hooli from @amazon talks about making personalization in React Native actually useful for the customer, rather than reacting to every single click.

Searches, saves and cart activity are much stronger signals. And if AI or the network isn't available? The core shopping experience still needs to work. 🛍️

Megha also gets into scalable architecture, fallbacks, privacy and building an experience that feels faster, clearer and more relevant, not dramatic.

We still can't believe how unbelievably fun Chain React 2026 was!

From @expo's keynote to the trend of AI, @GantLaborde joins us to talk about everything he noticed at this year's conference.

How do you bring React Native into an app that really can't afford to break? 😅📱

At #ChainReact2026, @dustinsoftware shares how @RegalMovies is bringing React Native into its existing mobile app, one page at a time.

Using feature flags, the team can run React Native alongside the old UI, ship it to real users, learn from it, then keep moving. 🚢

Dustin also gets into the messy bits: code signing headaches, CI and glue code, OTA updates, Maestro and making local dev fast.

See how they're doing it in the video below! 👇

Ready to delete your global state? 👀🗑️

At #ChainReact2026, @devagrawal09 makes the case for a state manager you might already have hiding on your device: SQLite.

Instead of giant objects, complicated persistence logic, and state getting tangled up with application logic, Dev shows how data can live in SQLite and be queried directly from React components.

Add reactive queries with PowerSync, and changes automatically bring fresh data back into your UI, just like you’d expect from a state management library. ⚡

Less state management logic. More SQL.

See why Dev thinks we should be using a lot more of it! 👇

If you can’t trust your tests, you might as well not have them. 🧪🚨

At #ChainReact2026, @isabelacmor from @Disney showed how automated accessibility and visual regression testing can be a lot less intimidating than it sounds.

Using Playwright, Axe Core, Docker, and GitHub Actions, Isabela walks through building tests that automatically check pages for accessibility issues, catch unexpected visual changes, and run as part of your CI/CD pipeline.

The key? Keeping those tests reliable. Because once flaky tests start getting ignored, real bugs can slip through too. 🐛
