Air-gapped signing is one of the workflows affected, so we built a replacement for that case, alongside the options covered here.

No nonce account or blockhash. The cold key signs a 32-byte digest; an Anchor program verifies it on-chain via the ed25519 precompile + instructions sysvar introspection, then CPIs the real instructions with a PDA as signer.

Replay protection is a hashchain: the digest binds to an on-chain seed that advances on every execute, so each signature is single-use. The program ID is mixed into the digest, so a devnet signature can’t be replayed on mainnet. Covers SOL/SPL transfers, stake ops and SPL Governance voting.
