ANNOUNCEMENT: WHERE TO READ MY COMICS
💚THE BEAST
English-Manta Comics, October 20
Spanish-Lemoon
🩷I WANT TO MAKE MY BABY'S FATHER FALL IN LOVE (free)
Due to Tapas's shutdown, I’ll be moving the story to Lemoon in both English and Spanish over the next few weeks #BL#Manwha
Bienvenid@ al maravilloso universo de los traductores. Esa excusa ya no funciona. Te muestro.
A demas si no es para este mercado por qué lo leen? Que lean webtoon latinos 🤷Que si son el mercado y hay un montón.
@turtleme93 Yall dont get that TM legally cant do anyrhing right now. Parent company hasnt given Tapas and us a single word about our next steps. They could totally keep our work if they wanted. Originals would be gone forever if they decide to. Be mad at them for closing us like this.
I am disgusted to see some of you blaming TurtleMe. We have ZERO control over this as authors.
We will not even have staff available to approve chapters to be posted by November.
There is no "let" here. We don't have the influence to do any of what is suggested. Not even him.
Seeing posts from Tapas K-creators that they were already contacted to be transferred to their new homes and got their next steps is seriously depressing, while we've been left in limbo for a month when we financially depend on our books but 🤷♀️ what do I know 🫠

@xuemaxwife We appreciate everyone’s empathy, as we cannot share too much information. The truth is, the situation is different for each aurhor, with some being more affected than others. We’re simply asking for a clear and timely response so we can move forward 🥺
After all this time of TAPAS remaining silent about our contracts and working conditions, the only thing we’ve received today is an automated email. Why can’t they provide us with a timely response or assign a team to address these issues? our livelihoods are being affected!
If I haven't even been able to get proper clarification about my contracts with tapas, I'm certainly not going to argue about it or explain anything to someone who has nothing to do with it. Good afternoon, and this matter is now closed 😊
So a handful of fans can build tools to help people through a platform closure, but a major company cannot give its own creators a proper response about their contracts, huh?
What confidence should anyone have in the future of this industry if the creators and readers have to publicly plead for basic communication?
If serialized fiction depends on creators’ labor and readers’ money, then both deserve consideration when a company changes direction.
And titles appearing on Manta does not suddenly resolve any of this. Readers finding somewhere else to read is good, obviously, but what about the creators still saying they have received no meaningful answers? Are we just moving on because some of the catalogue is available elsewhere?
This is what I was afraid would happen from the beginning. People get angry, the conversation gradually dies down, and the company never has to properly address what happened. Meanwhile, creators and readers are left dealing with the consequences. Then the next platform closes and we have the same conversation all over again.
You cannot keep asking people to support the industry while treating their trust as something you are automatically entitled to. Creators put years of work into these platforms. Readers spend actual money. Expecting basic communication in return is hardly unreasonable.
Especially when a small, fan-led team @nextchaptermoe has already built ways to save reading histories and help creators stay connected with their readers all for free. They have the time to build all of that and answer people’s messages, but a company with far more resources cannot manage the communication part?
At which point, may I ask, “it’s complicated” stops being a sufficient explanation? Nobody expects complex contractual questions to be resolved overnight. But acknowledging those questions, explaining the process, and providing a timeline is, in my humble opinion, a modest expectation.
The Kakao situation is only getting worse for creators.
There are things I cannot share, but which make prospects dim.
I have had no contact about my own situation, nor have I heard of a single Tapas creator getting even a cursory piece of outreach.
