We would like to inform everyone that we are in no way associated with @icphub_KE or @_ChamaDAO
Although they are using our name, possibly from a lack of creativity, the hackathon participants from @ETHSafari are in no way related to our regenerative research and projects.
On the occasion of @willszal's upcoming talk, I found myself revisiting his piece on ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ( https://t.co/NTzdko3Bwi ), living correlates to Timothy Morton's hyperobjects. It's a hugely important companion/ elaboration of the Local DAO Summer & Ethereum Localism question (and here's why I think so)
Morton's hyperobjects are entities that are too big in time or space for humans to directly cognate - climate change is the famous example - and the discourse around them has often been one of dread and paralysis (climate change being the ultimate "hyperobject"). How do we get out of ourselves in order to see these giants?
Technologists have long known that perspective bias can trap builders into essentializing an engineering problem that could be solved with a different scale, language, frame - call it ontological pragmatism, a willingness to shift your foundational assumptions about a system in order to discover new ways for things to assemble & work together.
Thinking about rivers, Will asks: "What kind of language might we use to express the relationship between the human scale and a being so colossal and mysterious as to be almost beyond our comprehension?" and in doing so asserts the need to creatively iterate on how we frame reality, in a way that honor (as we called it in "What is Ethereum Localism) "the mysterious pragmatism of the terrain."
We ๐ง๐๐จ๐ญ๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ข๐๐ฌ ( https://t.co/Tri4CdKVrC ) know that the material universe is an open ended superobject- its ground character is fundamentally plural. Building for that shifting ground is an infinite game; it requires an agile, pirate empiricism and a perpetual curiosity and unsettling ( @_newcubes_ "undualing") of the categories of subjects and objects. Not to achieve truth, but to achieve enough truth to ๐๐ช๐๐ก๐ .
For me, the phrase "Local DAO" captures this open materialism perfectly:
๐ณ๐ค๐๐๐: the commitment to integrate with & attempt to see the material conditions at hand, before your eyes, without delusion.
๐ซ๐ผ๐ถ: the recognition that that seeing is an open ended and creative project - a social project - requiring games of extended cognition and intersubjective perception - and the assertion of the creative autonomy to organize those intersubjective games without appeal to any one regime's closed vision of what beings and objects are and can be.
To correlate with the dynamic hyperobjects & hyperbeings that animate our world, that make up the crises and ethical stakes of our era, we are going to need to have an ontological shift about how we think of our selves. It is one that entities like @regenfoundation and @_terra0, @block_science@informalinc@opencivics are far along in...

Meet Mama Jane. Sheโs a mother of 3 and waste manager for Ndumbwi point in Mbezi Juu, Dar es salaam. She manages 5 pickers at her point who average over 50kg each daily.
A great first step to get our communities involved in the digital economy. On-boarding chamas and getting them to understand the blockchain will be so much easier with this. Hongera! Asante!
๐ We're thrilled to announce that we've been hard at work on the Swahili translation of the @MyfirstBitcoin_ handbook.๐
It's been a journey of dedication, and over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing insights into the incredible work our team has done.
We've extended our Climate Data Challenge with @oceanprotocol until midnight on Thursday, October 12th! ๐
Join us in predicting Marsabit, Kenya's vegetation health using machine learning and data science with the provided dataset.

Ongoing, @kenya_mchuzi is taking us through human center design for the @ETHSafari bootckathon.๐ญ
She is a mentor for the bootckathon so feel free to follow and reach out to her for any questions or inquiries you might have regarding your projects.
Only one more week until the IRL portion of the bootckathon begins ๐
Today, @TheSafariDAO's @kenya_mchuzi will walk you through "Co-designing with a community focused approach".
Do you have an idea but need to flesh it out? This is the perfect time to learn about design-thinking frameworks.

80% of the worldโs biodiversity is in Indigenous territories, but the ppl looking after nature are often attacked & abused. As for #UncontactedTribes, their survival's at risk if their lands arenโt protected from invasion.

Don't miss #ReFiKenya2023! Following last year's success, this 3-day event in Kenya from September 13-15 will cover topics like #ReFi, regenerative farming, #web3 technologies, and more. Stay tuned for updates. #Kenya#ReFiKenya
The assumption that novel models of ownership, payment, credit, and value will arise from the logic of the global north, or SV is utterly confused. Emerging ethical currencies will largely be built on what grassroots communities are already doing ... Particularly Kenya
Not if, but when, you grow numb from being shilled #publicgoods in web3, you can always join and steward #commons.
We think using Web3 to nurture a new renaissance of eco-digital #commons will be completely radical.
