On June 4, the world marks 37 years since the Chinese Communist Party ordered its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square. Those who sacrificed to uphold their unalienable rights of free expression and peaceful assembly will be vindicated someday.
After decades of tyranny and terrorist violence, claiming the lives of American soldiers, Israelis and countless Iranian civilians, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is Gone. May this be the Dawn of a Free and Democratic Iran!🇺🇸🇮🇱
1/ The sentencing of #JimmyLai & the others is a grave attack on press freedom & international advocacy. #HongKong authorities & the judiciary have weaponized the courts to criminalize speech & imprison those who speak up. @thecfhk urges the US to impose targeted sanctions—asset freezes, travel bans, & financial restrictions—on those driving this repression.
🗣️ "I can't think of another place in the world that has seen its freedoms so quickly and so thoroughly snuffed out in the last century" - Mark Clifford, biographer and friend of Jimmy Lai.
The 78-year-old British citizen was jailed for 20 years after he was found guilty of national security offences last December.

Another opportunity to press the Government on why the Prime Minister went to China without any prior agreement that British citizen Jimmy Lai would be released. Seems like we just rolled over to the Chinese and got nothing
The sentencing of Jimmy Lai is a a day of shame on this Labour Government, and the failure of this weak Prime Minster to stand up to China is a disgrace. We have serious questions that need to be addressed by this feeble government:
↘️Can the minister have some backbone now and tell us exactly what details were discussed between the Prime Minister and Xi?
↘️Did he call for Jimmy to come back home?
↘️Did he demand access to the healthcare he needs?
↘️When will this weak, sympathetic Labour government finally stand up to China and show some backbone?
↘️Will the Foreign Secretary actually do something, such as summon the Chinese ambassador and prepare a list of diplomats to expel in response to China’s refusal to free Jimmy Lai?
↘️Will the government revoke the planning permission granted for this embassy — the super-embassy spy hub?
↘️Will China now be placed on the enhanced tier of threat at long last?
↘️Will the UK, holding the presidency of the UN Security Council, actually take steps now?
↘️What diplomatic actions will be taken to escalate this case, put pressure on China for once, and secure global support for Jimmy’s release?
The CCP’s sham trial & illegitimate 20-year sentence for Jimmy Lai is a serious assault on press freedom & human rights. The US must stand firm with Hong Kong's pro-democracy voices and against Beijing’s authoritarian overreach. I will not stop fighting to hold the CCP accountable.
