In an internal memo today, Hong Kong Justice Secretary Paul Lam threatened to root out and prosecute DoJ staff who disclosed DPP Anthony Chau's abuses of office and affair. It seems there will be no investigation of Chau--just a witch hunt against whistleblowers.
(Unnecessary trivia) Lai Ka-ying is not the 1st Hong Kong-born person into space; that would be Bill Anders, who was born in 1933 and flew Apollo 8 in 1968. His crew was the first ever to orbit the moon, and he was the photographer of Earthrise, one of the greatest photos ever

In a press conference, @selina_cheng of the @HKJA_Official said certain media outlets/journalists are being put through arbitrary tax audits, which imposes heavy costs and stress even when no wrongdoing is found, and potentially curtails press freedom.

I want to ask @reformparty_uk why it has chosen a candidate who backs #HongKong's brutal repression - especially when, every time I have had the privilege of being on @Nigel_Farage's @GBNEWS show he has always indicated great sympathy towards #HongKongers and criticism of #China's #CCP, as have my Reform friends @danny__kruger@montie and others.
Reform now has a choice: either de-select Lee Sheung-yuen, an apparent CCP stooge, or defend him and therefore defend his regime in Beijing that threatens our values, freedoms and national security.
And if Reform keeps Mr Lee - then the voters of Ealing must decide: do they want to be represented by a democrat or by a CCP apologist (at best)/agent (at worst)?

Hong Kong police raided one of the city's last truly independent book stores, Book Punch, and arrested the owners and staff for sedition. Among other "sensitive" titles, the store was selling a biography on political prisoner Jimmy Lai by @MarkLClifford of @thecfhk.
When a book recounting a man's life story is a seditious threat to the government, that's a good sign the government is ideologically bankrupt and desperate to cling to power.

We received signals from partners in the Middle East. There have been strikes by Iranian “shaheds” on civilians in those countries. They are seeking our expertise. We are open. If their representatives come, we will provide the expertise. Especially since there is also a request from Europeans and from the United States. Requests have come to us to share our experience with partners in the Middle East.
Regarding weapons: we ourselves are at war. And I said, completely frankly, that we have a shortage of what they have. They have missiles for the Patriots, but hundreds or thousands of “shaheds” cannot be intercepted with Patriot missiles – it is too costly. Nothing is too much for the people, of course, but they simply do not have that many missiles. That is why they need interceptor drones, which we have. Meanwhile, we have a shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles. So, when it comes to technology or weapons exchange, I believe our country will be open to it.

Hong Kong proves every socialist dead wrong. Zero oil. Zero gold mines. Zero farmland worth mentioning. Just a rock jutting out of the South China Sea. And yet by the 1990s, this barren speck became richer per capita than Britain—the very empire that once ruled it.
How? Free markets, you statist fool. While Mao was starving 45 million Chinese with his Great Leap Forward, Hong Kong embraced what British pedophile John Maynard Keynes despised: actual capitalism. No minimum wage laws. No capital gains taxes. No currency controls. No industrial policy. The government's job was simple—protect property rights, enforce contracts, and get the fuck out of the way. That's it.
The results speak louder than any economics textbook. Refugees fled communist China with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Within a generation, they were building skyscrapers and running multinational corporations. Manufacturing exploded. Then services. Then finance. Each wave of economic evolution happened organically, driven by profit and loss signals—not some bureaucrat's five-year plan. And the poor? They got richer faster than anywhere else on earth. Because when capital is free to chase profits, it creates jobs. When entrepreneurs can keep what they earn, they take risks. When property rights are sacred, people build wealth instead of burning it.
But here's what really terrifies central planners: Hong Kong did this without natural resource wealth to redistribute. No Norwegian oil fund. No Saudi petroleum reserves. Just human action, Mises-style. Pure market forces turning human energy and intelligence into prosperity. The city became a financial powerhouse precisely because it rejected the interventionist nonsense that Scottish gambler John Law pioneered and modern economists still worship. Every gleaming tower in Hong Kong's skyline is a middle finger to everyone who claims markets fail and government must step in.
As an Iranian living inside my country during war, I will say this plainly.
The chance of me being killed by masked, armed men roaming the streets, or by gunmen standing on mosque rooftops behind machine guns, is far greater than the chance of dying in an airstrike.
That is the truth of life under the Islamic Regime occupying Iran. The real fear here has never come from the sky. It has always come from the men the regime unleashes among its own people.
