At a certain point you have to assume that some nameless nickelodeon executive wrote the entirety of the original show for the love of the game and never took credit
young people today just have no way to escape their parents. Need them for car, pay for school, rent, loans, etc. Have to put up with all their bullshit cuz they will take it all away. So opressing having to have this dynamic your whole young life.
My 12 year old son told me half a year ago that he likes his best friend's 18 year old sister. I said, go ask if she'll marry you. Worst case, she'll say no, and then you don't have to worry about it anymore. He did one better, he asked her mother (who was noncommittal.)
My dad graduated late 80s. Said finance was for the ppl that didn’t really give a shit about grades. A bank asked his friend with a 2.something GPA if he wanted to go trade oil futures in London. Guy became loaded
These days you need a Nobel prize to get a job in middle office
i had a high school friend who would talk about computing topics confidently but was always wrong or misunderstanding something
four years later he was talking with the same confident tone that i had associated with him saying something dumb, but he was actually making sense
I agree when she said you’re not going to connect with everyone & you’re not supposed to. & I truly feel like it’s 1 person in this life that you will ever have that connection with.
After that it’s pretty much what Kevin Hart said, which is that after a certain age & failed relationships, you’re just looking for someone to die with lol
Some experiences are special & unique in ways that you cannot come across twice/replicate. & They were never meant to. That’s what makes the two individuals connecting & the experiences shared, so special.
If you want to be happy, don't take every stuff personal, let it go. Let people be and focus on you, your mental health, your spiritual health, your well-being, physically and financially.
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models
“I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that.
“With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor.
“You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something.
“That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’
“I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”
Your biggest blind spot, You think everyone thinks like you. Has your values. Shares your logic. Sees your perspective. They don't. They can't. They're running completely different software. Half your frustration is expecting people to act like you would. They won't
Keeping everyone (including Africans) completely ignorant about Africa and the central role it plays in the economic and natural world is a core feature of Europeanised education, not a bug.
You're not supposed to know that the DRC is the most resource-rich country in the world, with an estimated $24 trillion sitting under its soil. You're not supposed to know that the rise of "western civilisation" from the 15th century on was entirely made possible by European contact with Africa, and that the resources and labour extracted from coastal West Africa from 1492 onwards are the entire reason why both American continents exist in their current form.
You're not supposed to know that both WW1 and WW2 were essentially wars fought over the right to African colonial domination and expansion, and that even the uranium that was used in "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from Shinkolobwe uranium mine in eastern DRC. You're not supposed to know that the reason the country of France exists in its current form is because tens of thousands of conscripted West African soldiers fought and won against the Nazis in Europe, and the French thereafter shipped them back to West Africa and massacred them at Camp Thiaroye in Senegal to avoid paying them their due wages.
You're not supposed to know that there was nothing cold about the so-called Cold War, because the vast majority of the hot theaters it was physically fought in were on the continent of Africa. (Zimbabwe, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Angola, Eritrea, Zambia etc). You're not supposed to know that the ongoing Ukraine war and the war in the Sahel are in fact the same conflict being fought by the same 2 sides, and that the reason France is desperately pushing funding and arms to Ukraine even as it falls into internal crisis is that Ukraine is acting as its proxy army in West Africa, as it tries to regain its lost colonial territories there, especially Niger where the cheap yellowcake uranium for its famously cheap nuclear energy used to come from before the 2023 revolution.
You're definitely not supposed to know that the entire global economy and system of trade as you know it is built on ruthless extraction from Africa and ensuring that Africa does not control anything it exports. You're not supposed to know that "Italian leather" doesn't come from Italy - it comes from Kano, Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that "Swiss chocolate" does not exist because cocoa does not grow anywhere in Switzerland or Europe - it comes from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that Israel and the UAE control the global diamond and gold markets even though Israel has no diamond mine and the UAE has zero gold mines, because both resources are literally being stolen from the DRC and Sudan on an industrial basis.
You're basically not supposed to understand that the entire geopolitical world as you know it, rests entirely on extraction from Africa, poverty of Africans, and your own ignorance about where everything you use comes from.
Completely deliberate 500+ year-old feature, not accidental bug.
The moment I realize someone is committed to missing my point, I shut up. There’s no point explaining yourself to someone who’s determined not to understand you.
I used to tell people immediately when I had a problem with them until I realized that nobody is actually interested in that & they'll do anything to protect the image they have of themselves
The wildest part about poverty is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.
