@daBuzzd You're mistaken. Qur'an 6:159 speaks against division. The Prophet(saww)'s appointment of Ali (as) was intended to unite the Ummah under clear leadership, not divide it. The division came later when a few power hungry figures chose to contest that decision.
One of the most common questions among Sunnis regarding Eid al Ghadir: If the Prophet ﷺ appointed Ali (a.s.) as his successor, why was Ali (a.s.) not chosen as the first caliph after the Prophet's passing despite being chosen in front of thousands? 🧵 (1)
@ABDULHAMID_21 The dust under the feet of the humblest servant of the servant of Imam Ali(as) is a trillion times more honourable than all of your fake Khulafah, their puppets, bani ummayah and your whole sect

Likewise, the fact that people didn't choose Ali(as) as the first caliph does not change what the Prophet ﷺ declared about him.
The people's choice can oppose the Divine choice, but it cannot alter it. (8)
So, a divine appointment does not become invalid because people refuse to follow it.
Bani Israel's rejection of Harun(as) did not make him any less the successor of Musa(as). (7)
