Developmental physiology lab investigating the molecular mechanisms of how mother and child communicate during pregnancy, and the consequences when it goes awry
Our latest preprint. @L_Lampe, @clarenewell24 and colleagues figured out how metamorphosing #Drosophila avoid drying out. The larva makes a lipid barrier of hyper-long hydrocarbons (>C27 and longer) and stores it in the fat body until needed by the pupa.

We are really pleased to share our new paper where we show that Liver X receptor signalling in the mother is a key event in the transport of essential long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids to the fetus. With @RishaAmarsi@SamuelFurse@albert_koulman

Very happy to see our last paper of 2023 is out:
The loci of many genes with redundant function (including paralogs) are in close proximity in 3D #Chromatin_loops. We show that such gene-gene loops often involve genes that cross-regulate each other’s expression.
