Clear your calendar & save the date for our big Juneteenth Celebration, which will be held on June 18th at James School Park. Whether you're a Friend (or a friend we haven't met yet), everyone is welcome. Details will be coming soon!#popecounty#arkansashistory#iloverussellville
I can see Hadro's point about missing impact by just sending out a digitized image and captions on social media. So many cool pieces of history are in my feeds, but in a saturated environment like that, I rarely try to dig deeper to find the rest of the collection. #NLDigIntern
I found Transcribing Modern History to be one of the most intuitive projects, but I also liked the detailed collection transcription guides provided by the Smithsonian Digital Volunteers project. #NLDigIntern
In the Van Hyning et. al. article, I liked the volunteer choice feature mentioned for transcribing documents. I would probably choose to finish an entire document, but transcribing small segments would allow a volunteer to view more of the collection. #NLDigIntern
@ariley1881 I agree! I believe most people who participate in these projects want to do a good job. If they are provide specific directions and feedback, they will learn and improve.
#NLDigIntern The Holley article reinforced my belief that people attracted to crowdsourcing projects do it to contribute to a project that will make a difference in the world. I also agree that it can be addictive!
@SarahBeee2 It requires a registration key. I sent a request in the form linked to the sign-up page and they emailed me a key. It might take a couple days for them to get back to you on the weekend.
Hello, everyone! My name is Charity. I'm a #NLDigIntern. I am finishing up my MLIS at USM and I work with digital collections in my new job. In my spare time I love reading and writing science fiction and learning languages.
