New 4-parter on the @WeHaveWaysPod - the British Band of Brothers, in which @almurray & I follow the incredible story of the Sherwood Rangers, the single British unit with more battle honours than any other in the war. We’ll get through their entire story in time but we’re starting with D-Day and the fighting of June 1940. Amazing men. I’m in awe.
This week, I prepared a special letter addressed to the President of the United States and to Congress. And yesterday, the letter was officially delivered to the institutions in Washington. It is quite rare for the leader of another state to address both the President and Congress of the United States simultaneously with a letter. But the situation now requires action, swift and effective action.
It is important that America hear Ukraine. We understand that much of the world’s attention is currently focused on the war in Iran. But the war here in Europe must also be brought to an end – a very bloody war that is already in its fifth year at full scale.
The sooner we are able to provide greater protection against ballistic threats, the sooner we will be able to make diplomacy work. As long as Russia continues to rely on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is not real. We must correct this. And we can do so only together with America.
Ukraine is grateful to America for all its support. And Ukraine will be even more grateful for a dignified peace and guaranteed security. All of this is possible – if there is sufficient determination.
Farage, with a very different accent, explaining how to exploit and profit from the very same system that he claimed to rail against.
Including using one’s wife to account for financial irregularities.
Well, it apparently works when trying to explain away house purchases, eh?
It certainly cannot be called a coincidence that one of the longest massive Russian attacks against Ukraine takes place precisely at the time when the President of the United States arrived for a visit to China – a visit from which much is expected. In this difficult geopolitical moment, Russia is clearly trying to disrupt the overall political atmosphere and draw attention to its evil – seeking to do so at the expense of Ukrainian lives and Ukrainian infrastructure.
Throughout the entire day today, the Russians have been launching waves of “shaheds” against our regions – and, in particular, deliberately targeting regions closest to the borders of NATO countries. Hits have already been recorded in Zakarpattia, Lviv region, Volyn, as well as in Ivano-Frankivsk and Rivne regions. Unfortunately, there are also hits in many of our other regions – Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. As of now, dozens of people are reported injured, including children. Sadly, six people have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Since midnight, at least 800 Russian drones have already been launched, and the attack is ongoing, with additional drones entering our country’s airspace.
According to our intelligence, after all the waves of drones, missile launches against Ukraine are also entirely possible. Our warriors are defending Ukraine, but Russia’s obvious aim is to overload air defense systems and inflict as much grief and pain as possible specifically during these days. It is important that the world does not remain silent about this. It is important that Russia’s true intentions are made clear to leaders and countries. It is important to apply real pressure on the Russian aggressor so that this terror is brought to an end. All services are currently engaged in dealing with the consequences of the strikes. Please pay attention to air-raid alerts. I am grateful to every partner who stands with Ukraine!
One of the things that made the Mythos release hard to interpret is that Anthropic held back details on most vulns they found, to give defenders time to patch.
1 month later, info from orgs with access to Mythos is starting to trickle out, e.g. this post from Mozilla today:

Today is Ukrainian Infantry Day.
The hardest and most terrifying job in the world -- being the best soldiers in the world and holding up the skies for millions against evil.
Humanity needs photographs like these.
Maybe at least someone here, looking at them, will be reminded once more of how appallingly petty our conflicts are, and how absurd our claims on this tiny blue marble in the abyss -- and how criminal and abysmal are those who launch rockets not into space, but into apartment buildings full of sleeping people.

Four years ago, in these very days, the fate of Kyiv was finally decided.
Here, in the small dacha village of Moshchun on the outskirts of Kyiv, on the banks of the Irpin River, Russian forces suffered a decisive defeat, and on March 21, 2022, Ukrainian troops cleared the area of the enemy, securing a decisive victory in the battle for Kyiv.
It was here, in Moshchun, that Russian forces managed to cross the Irpin River at the only point and threaten a breakthrough directly into Kyiv.
It was here that the heroic 72nd Mechanized, as well as units and formations of the territorial defense, special operations forces, the National Guard, and volunteers (including foreigners), fought a heavy battle to prevent this, and the fate of the capital hung by a thread.
But the heroism of the defenders prevailed. Russian forces, in particular the ill-fated 155th Naval Infantry from the Pacific and elite VDV units faltered and retreated from Moshchun.
Not a single Russian soldier ever set foot within the administrative boundaries of Kyiv.
It is sad, but Moshchun barely survived the battle of 2022 -- it became largely depopulated and significantly destroyed, although residents have already rebuilt and restored much.
It is always very quiet there.
The local community and authorities have for several years now been arranging and developing an open-air memorial museum called “Angels of Victory.”
On the very site where Ukrainian trenches once stood in opposition to advancing Russian forces. I went there again a couple of days ago to pay respects to the souls of the fallen soldiers.
This is a place of mourning and a place of the greatest gratitude, one that every person who values the ideals of the free world should visit.

I never stop admiring my people.
I just drove around my neighborhood in Bucha -12 C (10 F), a gray frozen sky, and a windy snowfall.
There’s no electricity, which means no heating either (unless you have gas and can power an individual boiler from charging stations).
And yet:
The barbershop is open.
The sushi bar is open.
The pastry shop downstairs is open.
The supermarket is fully running on a diesel generator and all the stores inside are working too.
Paying with Apple Pay is, as always, no problem. People are sitting in cafes with laptops, working. It’s cold inside, so both staff and visitors are wearing coats and gloves, warming up with tea.
Mobile service works. The internet works. Nova Poshta is operating, no delays with parcels at all. The car service around the corner is open too.
The moral of the story: praise the modern capitalist economy, markets, international trade, technology, and plain human diligence (and of course, first and foremost, Ukraine’s defense forces).
Because only thanks to all of that can you, in the rear during wartime -- under missile attacks, with the power grid and heating being destroyed, in the middle of an unusually brutal winter -- casually take five minutes to buy a hot pizza from a warming cabinet in a supermarket.
