Tons of independent trans artists who earn their primary income off selling music on bandcamp, Patreon, selling art commissions, etc. got added to this block list and saw their income drop to 0. Because they made a Star Trek reference at a celebrity. Or for doing nothing at all.
important context for this is that on Twitter @wilwheaton had made a massively popular blocktogether list he aggressively promoted as “blocking the most abusive scum twitter” but he would put people on it for like, making Star Trek references at him. (Continued...)
@officialmcafee 'the first self-governed decentralized social platform' the hell with you for making money on Mastodon and not giving any credit. It will burn and fall into abyss.

@nicklockwood @slava_pestov My point is that CPUs are not small nor simple anymore.
Servers are not PHP pages.
Frontend is not couple of JS lines.
Compilers are not one-pass.
CPUs are not ALUs + interrupts.
Shit got complex.
@nicklockwood @slava_pestov Because I don't think we will get far if we limit our technologies to one person's brain capacity. We wouldn't even achieve what we have now, IMO.

Reasons to join Mastodon:
- No ads
- No nazis
- Posts happen to you in chronological order
- Good mobile site
- Much more interaction
@bodil Not like I complain, but its quite interesting that name given by parents matters more than the one picked by the person themselves.
I hid mine to not get in trouble with the government, for example.
For all the people working in open source - paid or unpaid. Thank you. 👏👏👏
I know we spend way more hours than we like to admit contributing back to our open source projects.
So thanks for all the effort, regardless of capacity. Hope we get to work together one day.
