How many books did you read last year?
Now the harder question:
How much of it did you actually apply?
Reading 30 books sounds impressive. Applying 3 ideas that changed how you think, decide, or lead? That’s transformation.
A mindful of expired facts is a toolbox full of rusted tools.
It’s not only our ignorance but also the knowledge we are most proud of that poses the greatest threat to our success.
The the bold idea in my latest episode of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 with Elizabeth Lotardo is the “lack of purpose cycle” find out more by clicking on link below.

Research on the Forgetting Curve shows we lose 50% of new information within an hour, 70% by the end of the day, and up to 90% in a month
But here’s the upside: forgetting isn’t failure—it’s our brain’s way of filtering noise. The key is making the signal stronger.
We mistake activity for achievement.
Highlighting, rereading, and watching videos feel productive, but they rarely create lasting understanding.
Insight: Learning is not about what you look at — it’s about what you can recall without looking.

Most people study harder.
Great learners study smarter.
They use metacognition — thinking about how they’re thinking:
❓ What’s working?
❓ Where am I stuck?
❓ How can I adjust?
If you improve how you learn, you'll improve everything you learn.
#LearnItFaster#DeepLearning
Highlighting feels good.
But it’s a learning trap.
✅ Explaining concepts
✅ Recalling from memory
✅ Practicing problems
That's real learning — and it feels harder because it is harder.
Easy studying = Empty results.
#LearnItFaster#LearningScience#ActiveLearning
Learning happens after you forget.
Spaced repetition works because recalling information after forgetting forces deeper memory consolidation.
#LearnItFaster#LearningScience
We were taught to memorize.
We were never taught to learn fast.
In a world that changes daily, speed of learning is the real superpower.
#Learning#Mindset#FutureReady
💭 Metacognition = Thinking about your thinking.
Great learners pause to ask:
Is this working?
What should I change?
Where do I get stuck?
🧠 Reflection is a learning multiplier.
#LifelongLearning#MindsetMatters
🧠 Working Memory = Deceptively Limited
You feel like you know something… but you don’t.
That’s the illusion of competence.
➡️ Don’t reread. Don’t highlight.
✅ Instead: RECALL.
Pull info from your mind to lock it into long-term memory.
The visual-auditory-kinesthetic theory is widely believed by educators, but evidence shows:
People do have preferred modalities.
But matching teaching to those preferences does not improve learning outcomes.
Why? Because what’s tested is meaning, not sound or visuals.
🧱 Memory Issue Isn’t Storage, It’s Retrieval
You can store a quadrillion bytes. The problem?
Getting it in and out.
➡️ Practice retrieval. Create connections. The more links you build, the stronger the learning.
🧠 Metacognition = Thinking About Thinking
It’s your internal coach.
It checks:
What am I doing?
Is it working?
What should I do differently?
➡️ Great learners reflect as they go. They don’t just do. They adjust.
📚 Speed Reading is a Myth
The bottleneck isn't your eyes—it’s your brain.
You don't need to move faster, you need to process deeper.
➡️ Preview. Pause. Summarize in your own words.
Understanding beats speed every time.
🧠 Learning isn't about doing more—it's about doing it smarter.
Spacing, retrieval, and interleaving feel harder, but they build stronger, longer-lasting memory.
If it feels easy, you’re probably not learning.

🚀 Want to supercharge your study sessions?
Stop blocking. Start mixing.
Interleaving—switching between topics or problem types—boosts long-term retention and sharpens problem-solving.
It feels harder… because it is smarter.
#LearningScience#StudyTips#Interleaving
🧠 Want to learn faster?
Background knowledge = mental superpower.
It lets your brain chunk info, freeing up working memory so you can make connections and truly understand—not just memorize.
More chunks, less clutter. More clarity, deeper learning.

Prince didn’t rehearse for perfection.
He rehearsed for magic.
At a 1991 soundcheck, the crew said, “It’s perfect.”
Prince replied:
“If it’s perfect… why aren’t we dancing?”
He built greatness in the shadows.
And never, ever settled.
