But having tenure, or other means of securing basic needs plus the time to think, feels like a precondition to finding one's scholarship a form of self-care. It's hard to imagine being on the job market and feeling this way.

the thing that non-canadians don’t seem to understand (and refuse to!!!) is that the term “sorry” has different meanings and levels!! not every “sorry” means “i am sooo repentant.” it can mean “excuse me,” or “pardon,” or “is that ok?” or “i feel embarrassed”
