Today, I woke up in deep reflection of my journey through life.
As I celebrate yet another birthday, I’m indeed thankful to Almighty Allah (swt) for His blessings, guidance, protection and good health.

To my dear wife Oluremi, I say thank you for holding my hands, cheering me on, and supporting me. Thank you for keeping the sanctity of our home. My dear, the journey ahead is long, and might be challenging, but continue to keep the faith.

To my dear children, I say a big thank you for your kind understanding that I was built and made for service.

To family, friends, associates and indeed the good people of Lagos, I truly appreciate your support and your vote of confidence in my capabilities and capacity to serve.

An International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration tribunal sitting in Paris delivered a major ruling in favor of the Federal Government of Nigeria against Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited (SPTCL) over the long-disputed Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project.

​The key facts, financial figures, and specific findings highlighting the payment involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s ex-wife, Jennifer Douglas Abubakar, break down as follows:

​1. Core Verdict & Financial Claims Dismissed:

​Total Claim Rejected: The ICC tribunal dismissed claims brought by Sunrise Power seeking between $2.35 billion and $3.38 billion (as well as an underlying settlement claim of $680 million plus interest) in damages against Nigeria.

​Outcome: The tribunal dismissed all claims by Sunrise and held that the company was not entitled to compensation, relieving the Nigerian government of massive potential liabilities.

I feel incredibly humble to have been appointed Secretary of the New Media Directorate of the PBAT–Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat/Damilola Senayon James Campaign Council in Lagos State.

I accept this immense responsibility with renewed determination, loyalty and a strong sense of commitment to the cause of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the pragmatic leadership of our father and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

My deepest gratitude goes to my principal and chairman of PBAT-KOH/DSJ Campaign Council, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his lieutenant and our unbeatable candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and anonymous persons who nominated me and considered me worthy of this role.

My senior and leader, Hon Sesan Daini, the immediate past chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council of Ikorodu and Director of the Directorate, will lead this critical task that requires advanced dedication and efforts for effective coordination of the digital media activities of the Lagos APC Campaigns for PBAT and KOH.

I will also be working closely with Mrs Oseyiyemi Oluwatuyi, the NELFUND Director of Communication, who is the Deputy Director of PBAT-KOH/DSJ New Media Directorate.

Serving as Secretary of the Directorate comprising 24 distinguished Lagosians demands the full deployment of my over 17 years media experience, expertise and knowledge.

However true success will not be achieved without the unwavering support of you progressive families. I don’t claim to have all the expertise and knowledge; your support will be invaluable as I embark on this journey.

The Battle of Ọ̀rẹ̀ (August–September 1967) is widely regarded as the most decisive turning point of the Nigerian Civil War. It marked the moment the Biafran offensive was permanently halted, saving Lagos and the Western Region from falling, and shifting the momentum of the war entirely in favor of the Nigerian Federal Military Government.
​Here is how the Yorùbá forces and the local population at Ọ̀rẹ̀ helped repel the Biafran advance and change the course of the war.

​In August 1967, Biafran forces launched a lightning-fast offensive across the Niger River, easily capturing Benin City and the Mid-Western Region. Ironically, this Biafran expeditionary force was commanded by a Yorùbá officer, Lt. Col. Victor Banjo. What this means is that without the "Yorùbá but", these noise makers couldn't have planned an invasion on Yorùbáland. Ilé l'aṣeni gbé..

​Banjo’s forces advanced rapidly westward, reaching Ọ̀rẹ̀. Ọ̀rẹ̀ was only about 209km from Lagos, the federal capital. If Ọ̀rẹ̀ fell, the road to Ibadan and Lagos would be wide open, potentially forcing the federal government to surrender.

Before the invasion of Ọ̀rẹ̀, the political stance in the Western Region was neutral.
Yorùbá leaders, such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, had previously suggested that if the Eastern Region seceded, the West might follow suit.
​However, the Biafran invasion of Yorùbáland completely changed the political calculus. The physical threat to our homeland galvanized the Yorùbá people. Any lingering neutrality evaporated, and the West threw its full military, political, and civilian weight behind General Yakubu Gowon’s federal government. The defense of Ọ̀rẹ̀ became a battle for Yorùbá survival.

The Yorùbá contribution was immediate and fierce:

1. ​Local Troop Mobilization: Local Yorùbá troops, including men from the 11th Battalion based in Ibadan, were rushed to the frontlines to dig in and hold the town at all costs.

2. ​Civilian and Geographic Resistance: The local population provided critical intelligence and logistical support to federal troops. The difficult, marshy, and forested terrain around Ọ̀rẹ̀ was familiar to the locals but proved disastrous for the overextended Biafran supply lines.

3. ​Fierce Combat: The resulting clash was so brutal that it birthed a popular Yorùbá phrase: "Ólekú, ìjà Ọ̀rẹ̀!" (meaning "a very tough, deadly battle at Ọ̀rẹ̀").

The Legacy of Ọ̀rẹ̀
​The Yorùbá resistance at Ọ̀rẹ̀ did more than just win a battle; it redefined the geography of the war. By stopping the Biafrans at Ọ̀rẹ̀, federal forces successfully contained the conflict to the East and the Mid-West.

Biafra would never again mount a major offensive outside its territory, and from that point until the end of the war in 1970, the Federal Army remained on the attack.
