When politicians say "trillion dollars" keep this in mind:
1 MILLION seconds is about 11.57 DAYS
1 BILLION seconds is about 31.7 YEARS
1 TRILLION seconds is about 31,709.79 YEARS
@troywojick Broadly, works are the things we do. Good works are the things we do in obedience to the Law of Love through Christ - Matt 22:36-40, Rom 13:8-10, Gal 5:14, James 2:8-13, Eph 3:14-21
I think James 4:17 is also instructive from the negative side
@troywojick Neither agreeing nor disagreeing at this point. Scripture?
Obviously, faith itself is not a work as both Paul and James contrast faith against works repeatedly.
@troywojick The thief on the cross?
A deathbed conversion? (see above before you unilaterally dismiss the possibility)
An invalid, trapped in a nonfunctioning body?
@Melinda62909033@hwinkler4real There's a lady at our local Chick Fila that stops and talks while she's cleaning the dining room. She's just trying to be nice but it drives me crazy. I thinking, "Lady, I'm just looking for some half-decent food and a few minutes of peace before I go back to work."
@JonnyMicro That was one of the weirdest movies ever. I saw it on HBO at a friend's house when HBO was still new. We never did figure out what the little woolly booger thing was all about.
@PamelaB303@BumpstockBarbie Why are people having sex with people they aren't prepared to become parents with? I mean, I do know why, but why don't they exercise a little restraint and forethought?
@barnacles71@BrysonGray I believe we're mostly in agreement. Faith without works IS dead, and not truly faith. A belief without action is just assent. It is not faith. But Paul is abundantly clear that works do not save. Faith saves. True faith also produces works. Works are an outflowing of faith.
@barnacles71@BrysonGray Not sure I agree. Works are the EVIDENCE of faith, but what of the one, like the thief, who dies in faith without producing works? Like a severely disabled person who has mental acuity but no ability?
@BrysonGray@FrankLets78822@bannedpastor "NOT OF WORKS so that no one may boast" Ephesians 2:9
We are saved by faith alone, but a saving faith is never alone. It will PRODUCE works. Ephesians 2:8-10, James 2:14
