A firefighter has been taken to hospital following a significant blaze at a derelict property in Bradford this evening.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 8.18pm regarding an incident at an end-terrace house on Apsley Crescent. The building consists of three storeys and a basement, with the fire affecting both the ground and first floors.

A total of five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were deployed to the scene. Crews utilised six sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reels, and positive pressure ventilation fans, with Stage 2 breathing apparatus procedures implemented. One member of the fire service was transported to hospital for precautionary checks.

Fire engines from Shipley, Fairweather Green, Odsal, and two from Bradford attended the scene, supported by crews from Mirfield and Rastrick. The aerial ladder platform was provided by the Huddersfield station.

Serious collision leaves man fighting for life in Brighouse Aldi car park

Officers were called just before 1pm today to reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian in the Aldi car park on Halifax Road.

A 78-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The driver of a Toyota Prius, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody.
