Feels surreal but here it is, my first published piece of research! Full of my favourite things - young people, education and adoption all under the umbrella of school belonging. Let me know what you think!

Had a really powerful conversation today about a concept that I find very helpful and important- social pain. So many layers to this but often I speak about it as the emotional and relational pain which can sometimes come from experiences like rejection, exclusion, disconnection, humiliation, loneliness, bullying, betrayal, or feeling chronically misunderstood.
There are some studies which suggest that some of the same brain regions can be involved in physical pain can also become activated during experiences of social rejection or exclusion.
We were also talking about how social pain is not always about one specific “dramatic” event. Sometimes it is the steady drip or weathering of micro moments such as feeling unseen, feeling different, being misunderstood and much more.
