I would rather be "oppressed" by a husband I gave my virginity to in marriage than to “free” myself by getting used as a sex toy as my resentment and bitterness towards men grows stronger the older I get.
@DineshDSouza Plus, there is a difference between teloles lininer causation and agent causation which can cause make and cause other agents without being responsible for their actions.
@DineshDSouza And the same atheists use this to claim that God can't be good and all-knowing. Compatibilism allows both. If free will is not known them God is not all-knowing in when he actualizes.
Naturalistic determinism—the atheist position—and Calvinistic determinism go hand in hand. The first is based on the idea that natural causation predetermines everything, the second that everything is predetermined by divine decree. In both, there’s no room for genuine free will.
@realJennaEllis Exegeting the text used is arguing in good faith.
Continuing to ignore and attack people who ask you to address scriptures (as White has done to you) is the definition of bad faith argumentation.
Most people don't realize this yet, but commonly using gender-neutral words like "partner", "adult", and "parent" is contributing to feminist and gender egalitarian ways of thinking.
I pointed out that a man who provides for his family (like JD Vance) shouldn't be changing diapers on a daily basis.
So many people replied with comments like "he's just being an adult, doing his job as a parent. You're just jealous that your partner doesn't pitch in more"
NO, he's behaving like a woman/wife/mother.
A father's proper role is to lead, provide for, and protect his wife and children.
Cooking, cleaning the house, and doing routine childcare tasks like diapers changes is the role of a mother.
Men and women are very different. We aren't interchangeable, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise by using gender neutral terms.
The anti-Calvinist confidently marches toward the cliff shouting, “My will! My choice! My decision!”
Welcome to the edge of human autonomy:
“…nor of the will of man, but of God.”
The scary thing about Calvinism is it seems to confirm the worst accusations against God made by the atheists and the anti-theists. When Hitchens (whom I debated about a dozen times) railed against the “tyranny” of God I think he had in mind the Calvinist version of God.
I’m just as put off by the Calvinist sensibility as by Calvinist soteriology. It’s dogmatic in the worst sense: narrow, closed-minded, peremptorily dismissive of disagreement. It’s the opposite of the Socratic sensibility which is curious, open-minded, willing to listen.
Calvinist: “Calvinism teaches X.”
Anti-Calvinist: “That’s false. Calvinism teaches Y.”
Calvinist: “No, we don’t believe Y.”
Anti-Calvinist: “There you go again! Calvinists always tell us we don’t understand Calvinism.”
Calvinist: “But you just told me I believe something I explicitly reject.”
Anti-Calvinist: “That’s because Calvinists are arrogant.”
Calvinist: “I don’t believe Calvinists are superior to anyone.”
Anti-Calvinist: “Wrong. You do.”
Calvinist: “You’re doing it again.”
Anti-Calvinist: “Doing what?”
Repeat.
