5 tips to reduce stress of staff.
1) if asking to meet with staff member, let them know why.
2) Don't address an issue you have with one person with the whole staff.
3) praise a lot more than you critique
4) fewer meetings
5) continual encouragement, support, and praise.
You know what I really want? A community track meet. Just like a road 5k. You sign up for the events you want to compete in. You pay the fee and sign the safety waver. Then you show up to the track and have fun.

Public service announcement: You don’t get an A for effort. You earn it for excellence.

@coachjayjohnson I tell my kids all of the time not to listen to their parents about training and racing. And I ask parents to not talk about cross with kids unless the kids bring it up.
Cross Country is a great metaphor for life.
From the outside, it looks like an individual sport. A bunch of people running their own race.
But in reality, it's a team sport. The sooner we embrace the team aspect, the better we perform, and the more joy and connection we create.
We all know that kid who doesn't run all summer, shows up to XC season out of shape, and misses out on the whole racing season just getting in shape.
Don't be that kid!
