Ginkgo is a long-lived tree known as a "living fossil" for its ancient lineage.
It is prized as an ornamental and street tree due to its resilience to pollution and its beautiful fan-shaped leaves that turn golden in the fall.
@AndreasBoos I totally agree with you! Sir Tom is still outstanding - unbelievable that he's 86 ๐๐ฅ๐ธ๐ค. So I'm sure you had an unforgettable evening over there in Maryland ๐. Thanks for reposting my vid ...
"No one leaves here alive. So please stop treating yourself as an afterthought. Eat delicious food. Walk in the sun. Jump into the sea. Speak the truth that you carry in your heart like a hidden treasure. Be silly. Be good. Be weird. There is no time for anything else. - Anthony Hopkins
@MarkEllis15 So I wish you a 'Happy Birtday' ๐๐พ. And as I've heard in your clip you already had a wonderful Birthday. Enjoy the rest of the day ๐
@RealSirTomJones@CaesarsWindsor Great photos! And look at that incredible smile on Sir Tom's face โ pure joy and fun ๐ค๐๐. I'm sure the audience had a ball that evening!
This is not a photograph.
Every leaf and every reflection was put there by hand, in oil, by the Danish painter Peder Mรธrk Mรธnsted in 1894.
It is called Wooded path by a river, and it captures the hardest thing there is to paint: a forest in full sunlight. Light through trees never falls evenly. It scatters into countless flecks of brightness and shadow, a glow on one leaf, darkness on the next, a glint on the water that would vanish the moment a cloud passed. Get those even slightly wrong, and the whole thing collapses into a green blur.
Mรธnsted got every one of them right, and in doing so he captured something anyone who has stood alone in a wood will recognize immediately: that hush that falls over you, the sense of being completely at peace, and the feeling that the whole world has paused to breatheโฆ
@MarkEllis15 Dave Brubeck was great. I have an old 45 Venyl of 'Take Five' ๐. And I saw him in 2001 in Ingolstadt (Bavaria) where he performed together with the Jacques Loussier Trio a 3-Hour-Concert. I'll never forget this ๐ค๐น๐ท๐ผ.
And last but not least the 'encore' ๐๐ค. This is really a piece of Bach - a little bit different arranged by Jacques Loussier ...
