Client came to me with a photography course that wasn't selling
It had 13 modules & 87 videos(!)
Why no sales?
Because a course described as being about All of Photography isn't very compelling
It upset her when I told her this, so I explained what I call the “2am Problem”
@MatthewModine@BenSettle Fantastic movie! Watched it many many times and want to see it again now. Also good on you for being here responding to people like an actual human 🙏
Most design agencies making fat cash from AI design are serving themselves. They prey upon a clientele that thinks pretty = profit.
Sort of like the gold rush days where you could make a fortune selling shovels.
Only in this case the shovels don’t work.
As a designer I love the websites AI can create. 3D effects, lighting, parallax…it’s all juicy & gorgeous.
But I never use them. Why?
Because I serve clients. And those clients need to sell their goods to survive.
Those fancy AI sites?
Most repel money & crater conversions.
Biggest cheat code I know now:
The ability to not conduct oneself like a money-hungry, dime-a-dozen, AI opportunist.
Shortcuts are great. Processes are great. Tools are great…
Even better (& more profitable) is when the customer can still see a genuine person behind it all.
@torreydawley Man...absolutely. We're still working together and it's so refreshing to work with someone who can simultaneously dream big while keeping their feet on the ground.
Had a prospect flip out at me. In a good way.
I told them about a client who’s making about $500 extra per month after I set up some automations for her.
Prospect said: “It’s refreshing to not hear about some six-figure windfall like everyone’s talking about.”
Honesty works.
@thealexxroy Great lesson. Persistence seems to be less and less well regarded as time goes on. Especially now that we’ve entered the age of AI quick-fixes.
Been listening to The Telepathy Tapes and one thing is increasingly clear...
We're spiritual beings. Not meat bodies. And the extent to which this has been trained out of us is sad.
What a shame.
"We're not humans having a spiritual experience. We're spirits having a human experience."
Love that quote.
But listening to people concoct every odd explanation for The Telepathy Tapes makes me realize not a lot of folks believe it.
@klaasm67 Yup. Then the guy who got passed pushes his button and passes back 🤣🤣🤣
The wife hasn’t missed a race in about 5 years. She bailed out of the sprint last night saying, “This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m going to bed. Wake me up when the season’s over.”
Two weekends into the @F1 season and it’s already rather unbearable. The push-a-button passing and repassing is so ridiculous and artificial. The @fia botched and neutered this one big time.
Nothing inherently wrong with hard-sell tactics, but I’ll say this…
Once your prospect truly understands how you can help them, they’ll buy.
So easy.
If you need NLP & psych tricks to get the purchase or to replace understanding…
You’re getting into pretty shady territory.
