Yes it was wild then. And even when the change came, the impact on Black women in particular was a lot.
The need for a guarantor for women (if single) still continued. The Equality Act didn’t exist so you could get declined for a mortgage because someone was a bigot.
If you are or know of a Black UK student who wants to do a fully funded PhD starting 2025 in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography or Earth Science, Maths or Physics...can you DM me!
Please tell everyone
Separating politics from everyday happenings isn’t possible because most things are politically interlocked. How/why people don’t understand that half way through 2025 is beyond me. You can’t separate the politics from what you consume, where you go, what you give time to etc
RIEP Courtney Griffiths KC - you were one of the few senior black practitioners I was aware of growing up who laid the foundation for my career at the Bar of England and Wales. You will be sorely missed

Today we celebrate people from The Caribbean who were invited to rebuild Britain after World War II.
DO NOT forget those who are STILL waiting for compensation after being wrongfully treated like illegal immigrants by the Home Office.

A new report from the Institute for Fiscal Studies has reinforced the perilous state of the criminal justice system.
If we are to end the crisis facing criminal justice and grapple with the unacceptably high backlog, the government needs to provide the resources that are urgently needed to help the system function.

AI should be ethical and used ethically. I don't think it's is realistic to expect people not to use it now that it's here. This is truly frightening though.
In 2020 I tweeted that Amerie really isn’t a great singer at all. People came to her defence and I was convinced that they base their opinions on how beautiful she is (which she is) and I’m convinced of the same now.
“Hi guys, have you eaten with us before? Okay, let me explain the concept. If you scan the QR code you’ll see a menu with a selection of small plates that come out in no particular order. We suggest ordering 3-4 each, even though each one costs the same as a regular main course. Just to let you know, the plates, some of which will actually be roof tiles or chopping boards, will require more room than the table provides. Seeing as there are two of you, we’ll make sure each dish contains three items. The meal will cost three figures and you won’t be full.
“At the end you can pay the bill via another QR code, and that bill will include a service charge, but then we’ll ask if you also want to tip an extra 12, 15, or 20 percent on top of that, so hopefully you’ll get confused and tip twice. You’ll also incur a £1 admin charge for paying via the QR code. Can I get you any bread for the table for a £5 charge I’m not going to mention?”
