@lulumeservey You know at some point they had a candid internal discussion about his perceived significance and wealth reaching such an inflection point, that his durability would transcend all mortals, God-Emperor-style, if he would just take a British Royal-figurehead approach to existing...
@lulumeservey There probably should be a saying, like “live by approval polls, die by approval polls.”
The lack of authenticity is palpable in an era of direct speaking politicians, founders and investors.
It always felt like an insulting impersonation of Warren Buffett.
Just be yourself…
@paulg I assume that’s primarily a function of the perception of ideological adherence to wokenes, per profession.
The left did a tremendous job of capturing professional trade groups, ex. law (the ABA), medicine (AMA) and expecting puritanical adherence by university professors, etc.
@eastdakota Funny enough, when Khosla Ventures reached out, an advisor warned me that he likes to get on boards, fire founders and replace with proxies in soft takeovers over time. No idea if true, but it spooked me and I canceled the meeting.
Maybe it wasn’t a test after all!
@nerder_@paulg There’s a lot to unpack there, but I don’t think the skepticism is necessarily focused on individuals as much as it is collective lobbying groups leveraging the perceived authority of relevant professionals or the expectant behavior of group members.
Policy is shaped at the top.
@elonmusk You can thank the Academy of Motion Picture voting members.
They reward woke productions with Oscar nominations, thus incentivizing the entire feedback loop…
@paulg I don’t think it’s all politicians.
Those influenced by Marx view economic output and financial success through an oppressor/oppressee division of labor lens.
They also historically view capital/wealth as a threat to social + political power, so are incentivized to vilify it.
@MartyBent Last week I watched a man walk over to a wheelchair, plop down, put his legs up and then proceed to quickly wheel himself directly into oncoming traffic.
Sentiment is extremely high for Pratt, but let’s see how the legions of zombies vote.
This is why I rarely venture out of OC
It took me a full year following my dad’s passing to finally listen to his old voicemails.
I’m glad I did, it’s like being transported to the before time.
It also demonstrates the future value of capturing and creating digital “memories in a bottle,” for those you care about.
