As we celebrate Juneteenth, we must honor the progress we’ve made toward freedom and also reflect on the painful truths of our history — as both Pennsylvanians and Americans.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the generations of Black Americans who fought to make the promise of liberty a reality. But our work toward a freer and more just nation remains incomplete.
We all share a responsibility to continue building a Commonwealth where every Pennsylvanian has the opportunity to thrive.
So today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, may we all reflect on the hard and painful truths of our past, celebrate our collective progress, and renew our commitment to a better future for us all.
