Five tips for every #sportingparent:
1. Love your child unconditionally - always;
2. Winning and losing doesn't matter - love them the same no matter what the result is;
3. Teach independence, self-determination, responsibility and accountability as priorities;
4. Sporting success DOESN'T make your child a good person: Being a good person will lead to sporting success;
5. If they love what they do, they'll do what they love. Focus on creating the environment for your child to fall in love with the experience of #sport - then - if they've got the will, the drive, the desire and the #talent - they'll make it! But if they don't love it - it's all over.
How Does a Coach Learn?
The way coaching has been taught over the years is by doing workshops, by doing courses, and by running conferences. But when you think about it, coaches really don't learn that way. In fact, there's three ways that coaches really learn.
One is, they learn by coaching. They get out there and work with athletes. They observe, they listen, they look. And they learn as they're actually coaching; they're learning on the job and they're growing and learning with their athletes.
Secondly, we know that coaches learn by working with, observing and being part of another coaching group. They learn by working with, listening to, watching, and coaching with other coaches.
Thirdly is that they learn by solving problems and finding solutions to problems that arise while they're actually coaching.
Coaches learn by coaching.

Great coaching is far more than guiding athletes to be better than they are. It is first in guiding them to understand who they can become; next to believe that they can achieve that; then to take ownership themselves of getting there.
