My, optional, end of the year extra credit for my students is to write a thank you letter to a teacher or staff member. A few students chose to write to me, one likened me to Ms. Honey from Matilda.

It just warmed my heart.

A coworker brought apricots from her tree. I was looking forward to getting some from the teacher's lounge at break and mentioned it to some students. They didn't know what it was. I found out no less than 5 of my students didn't know.

People give your kids real food, please.

We had our teacher appreciation week celebration this week. Coffee, snacks, lunch, aguas frescas, and a bloom bar. Here is the bouquet I put together.

My boy student was riding a boogie board across a rolling line of students for his team at our school rally today. He told me afterwards that he wiped out and "got a full face of butt crack with his nose all up in the crack!"

I laughed as hard a you might imagine.

Borrowed teacher hack: When students ask you questions that you just answered or that are on the board, they can't ask you. Instead they have to call out "Hey Siri" and ask the question to the class, then someone will answer them. They must be responsible for their learning.

Lately, it's a struggle to get my kiddos to be quiet so I can give instruction. So I tried something new, I told my kids to tell the students who were still talking to be quiet. They unexpectedly turned in unison and yelled it at one offender. Additional training will be needed.

A student at our school has created a TikTok account under the name of the previous principal and used AI to generate videos of various teachers and admin doing TikTok dances. Not appropriate, but I must say my colleagues have some sweet dance moves. 😆🤣

When you have tried everything to reach that difficult and disrespectful student, but it reaches a point where you finally have to call home and the parent tells you that the kid complains about you to them all the time.

Apparently, I refuse to help her.

Normalize adopting older dogs. They are so sweet, require less work as they just want to snuggle, and they're already potty trained!

@JustL2000 Cool! I'm going back next month for one day as my friend and I got the California resident discount tickets so we had to purchase 3 days, but we split them up. We may give Universal a whirl too, we just have to see how much the CTA discount is.

My dad and brother forgot my birthday again this year. This is the 2nd time in 3 years. I'm not sure how I feel about it, at least I'm less upset than the first time. It makes me miss my mom more.
