I took a lot away from this course that I think will help me significantly in the DHY field especially with how much food can affect your oral cavity! I know I will be able to help educate and support my patients moving forward! #BEH353
@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you for your lecture this week! I really resonated with the fact that you spoke about how you can still eat "junk" and be healthy. This has always been a personal struggle of mine and something I am working on to not be so hard on myself about. #BEH353
I chose this article for anyone who may be pregnant. It is so important to make sure one is taking care of their health and body while pregnant. Whatever you put into your body your unborn child will be receiving https://t.co/nQuFo7cgLq #BEH353
(pt2) Like we learned last week fat shaming someone is not motivating. You don't know someone's internal struggles. If you are trying to look out for someone's health you need to do it in the kindest most caring way possible #BEH353
“Look at that skinny woman in there trying to get out.” This quote from the reading made my stomach turn and feel so sad. It bad enough poor Emily was thinking she may have cancer and this is what the doctor had to point out to just add to her worry, & anxiety. (PT1) #BEH353
What stood out to me was that <7 hours of sleep a night is a cause of obesity. It is interesting because in the DHY clinic I learned that if your neck circumference is over 16cm you are considered obese and more than likely have sleep apnea #BEH353
when I look at the barriers chart I feel as though I can relate to quiet a few different barriers. The main one for me though is preferred taste for unhealthy food. I just said to a friend yesterday I don't eat to fuel my body I strictly eat for the taste of the food. #BEH353
I personally use Shakeology. I absolutely love it. Its quick, easy and it also tastes amazing! As you can see from the label is has lots of great stuff our bodies need! #BEH353
https://t.co/3mWMpJqx0x I think this is a great article for PTs to take a look at A majority of our society is addicted to coffee but its not looked at as an addiction b/c of easily it is found & how social it is Everything in moderation is fine but how much is too much? #BEH353
I decided to use a smucker's uncrustables PB&J because this is a quick thing we have on hand for my kids. Its crazy to see how muhc sugar is added into this tiny sandwich and also the amount of sodium.
@giomary_mcphs@beh353 I hated veggies growing up! not sure if you did as well but as an adult I have found a new love for them! it is so easy to add in some veggies and up the nutrient density of a meal!
This week when I did my 24 hour food recall it was very eye opening.I know its silly to say but seeing it on paper was kind of tough to be complety honest with myself & how much snacking & empty calories I consume. I had a tough week nutrional overall caused from stress #BEH353
I love to make homemade burrito bowls! Recently I have been changing out ground beer for 100% ground turkey breast, using avocado over guacamole, also switching out white rice for a mix of brown rice & cauliflower rice. These simple switches make it more nutrient dense #BEH353

#TipOfTheWeek Packaged lunch meats can be kept in the fridge for 2 weeks before opening. After opening or buying sliced lunch meat at a deli, you can refrigerate for 3 to 5 days. These meats can also be frozen for 2 months. #FoodSafety
