Chelsea Wagner, a junior volleyball all-star at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA, recently completed a highly successful 2025 season in which she was a key factor in her high school team’s first state championship win in school history. Chelsea Wagner is creating a lot of buzz as a 5’9” high rising college volleyball prospect who plays the Outside Hitter position and is currently uncommitted. She is a talented and skilled athlete who can consistently “kill” the ball and end the point, a player the setter and team rely on in crucial moments in a game, a focal point of the offense as a main attacker. Chelsea Wagner’s performances display power, reliability, explosiveness, crafty, smart, versatile, tenacious and agility along with outstanding footwork and jumping skills.

During the MIAA State of Massachusetts Division 2 Championship Tournament, Chelsea Wagner was a key factor in all 5 games played especially in the championship finals game that saw her standout in the final fifth set to determine the winner with an abundance of exceptional plays including the game winner. Chelsea finished the game with 27 kills, 6 digs and 1 block. During the 5-game championship tournament Chelsea Wagner made 92 kills, 5 blocks and had 24 digs.

With the outstanding play of Chelsea Wagner in 2025 she helped to lead the team to its first state championship win and the school’s first undefeated team in school history with a record of (25-0). Chelsea Wagner completed the 2025 season with 355 kills, 16 blocks, 82 digs, 11 assists and 5 aces.

In the 2024 season, her first on the varsity team, Chelsea Wagner was also a key factor in helping the team make it to the state championship finals game but, ultimately lost finishing with a team record of (21-4). Chelsea finished the 2024 season as a sophomore with 170 kills, 6 blocks, and 63 digs.

Chelsea Wagner has a total of 525 kills in her two seasons of varsity play and since she more than doubled her amount of kills from 2024 to 2025 it is possible next season in her senior year she has a realistic shot at making 1,000 kills for her career along with a goal of helping to lead her team to its third state championship finals game in a row and second championship in a row.

Chelsea Wagner fell in love with the game of volleyball at the age of 12 after watching babysitter play at Oliver Ames and then told family and others “Someday, you are going to see me playing on that court”. Chelsea lives, eats and breathes volleyball all year long and during the off season from the age of 13 to current she has played for the Lockdown Volleyball Club and has always been on the top national team. Her team, Lockdown Hawks, has won gold in 6 tournaments, and she was selected for the All-Tournament team in 2 of them.

BLOODLINE OF CHAMPIONS:
Two Cousins, Two Finals, One Historic Day.
Olivia McManus of East Bridgewater High School and Chelsea Wagner of Oliver Ames High School are two exceptional and talented volleyball athletes in the State of Massachusetts. Although they are two different people who happen to have the same bloodline from families, they did together in the 2025 high school volleyball season what dreams are made of and then on one historic day they capped it off with a storybook ending. On Championship Finals Day as part of the MIAA Massachusetts State Volleyball Championship on November 15, 2025, Olivia McManus and Chelsea Wagner were two of a kind in an abundance of ways that would be perfect for a Hollywood script. The two of them are cousins playing varsity volleyball on two different teams, the two of them are juniors in high school, the two of them play the same position on the court as an outside hitter, the two of them each had sensational 2025 seasons with both of them each getting well over 150 kills, The two of them each had more than 75 digs in the season, the two of them are 2025 Conference All-Stars, the two of them are impact players on their teams that helped them qualify to play in the MIAA state championship tournament, the two of them were key in helping to lead their teams to the MIAA state finals championship game, the two of them played their MIAA state final championship game in the same gym two games in a row with Division 2 Oliver Ames playing in the first championship finals game and Division 4 East Bridgewater playing in the second championship finals game, the two of them had set ending kills against their opponents during the championship matches, the two of them helped to lead their team with the most team wins in school history, the two of them helped to lead their teams with the best team record in school history with Oliver Ames (25-0) and East Bridgewater (24-1), the two of them both helped their school team to win their Massachusetts state championship finals game, the two of them both helped their team win their schools first ever Massachusetts state championship, the two of them can now both say not only are they related with families DNA but they both now have Championship DNA.

How did you feel as soon as your team won the championship? Olivia - The second we won the game; the amazing memories of this season came flushing back. I couldn’t believe we had just won the state championship and our 2025 season was officially over. Chelsea - The moment that I felt when me and my team won the championship was unlike any feeling I have felt before. We fought so hard to get to that point and I knew we weren’t going to give up and we didn’t so that feeling of accomplishment was the best feeling ever.

What was your most memorable play in the championship game? Olivia - A memorable play was in the second set; our momentum was extremely high being up 12-1. They set the outside, and me and my middle got an amazing block, and it was a great feeling having all the momentum in that moment. Chelsea - I think the most memorable play from the championship game was me getting that last final kill to close out the win. I can’t explain that feeling of getting the last point.

What is something you feel helped you to improve your game from 2024 to 2025? Olivia - I improved in being able to read the block and see the holes in the block to be able to hit around them. Chelsea - I think something that I improved from last year was creating a stronger swing and really trying to clean up my serve receive.

What are your plans for the offseason and future? Olivia - I am going to be playing club volleyball for MGA 17 Nationals. Next season in 2026, my teammates and I are striving to repeat for the first time in school history. After high school, I plan to play at college. Chelsea - My next step for volleyball is to really start attacking the recruiting part of my volleyball career because I do want to play in college and along with club tournaments and practice for Lockdown VBC (17 National team) and then continue on to play my senior year at Oliver Ames and set out to win the state championship again.

Do you think you may ever play together on the same team in the future in club or college or elsewhere? Olivia - I don’t think it is likely we will be playing together as we play at different clubs as well as high schools, although there is always a possibility during or after college. Chelsea - I think that there is a low chance of me and Olivia to play on the same team but if we ever did, that would be so fun and such an awesome way to be able to see her more and experience something that we both love so much together. Outside of our high school and club teams, we play VB all the time together…in the pool, at the beach, in our backyards, in our houses (lol)…whenever we get together, we always manage to find a volleyball.

If you could say something to your cousin after winning the championship, what would you say to her? Olivia - Congratulations Chelsea! I am so proud of you. You are so deserving, I love you. Chelsea - I am so proud of you Olivia and I know exactly what you’re feeling right now, and it’s so cool we can experience the same feeling on the same day together winning a championship for the first time. What a historic day for us and our families.

We can now say these two cousins made rare history. Two Families, Two Finals, Two State Champions in 2025 and next year in 2026 with both returning to their high school teams along with other talented returning players there is a high possibility we could be saying Double Destiny: Cousins lead their teams to Back-To Back Championships two years in a row. The future of volleyball is certainly bright for these two rising stars.
