Day 2 of National Knowledge Workshop on Advancing Access to Safely Managed Sanitation in Urban Areas 🚰🌍

The second day of the workshop focused on advancing Used Water Management (UWM) and safely managed sanitation under SBM-U 2.0. The sessions provided a dynamic platform for government bodies, states, and sector experts to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore actionable strategies for sustainable urban sanitation.

💡 Key Highlights:

Smt. Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary and Mission Director of SBM-U, MoHUA emphasized the importance of integrated planning, comprehensive data collection, accurate reporting, and real-time monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and proactive communication to drive SBM-U 2.0 initiatives.

States including #Punjab, #MadhyaPradesh, #ArunachalPradesh, and #Odisha presented their state-level progress and showcased wide range of innovative solutions to local challenges in Used Water Management.

A session on procurement and progress monitoring showcased innovative strategies from #Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, #Maharashtra, and #Karnataka for engaging implementation agencies and tracking project milestones.

Presented town specific case studies on innovative solutions for Used water management (UWM), technology adoption, treatment standards, and sustainable practices in urban sanitation. The session also featured the introduction of a UWM manual- Methodologies for Used Water Management Planning, prepared by @wash_institute supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Technical Assistance to Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 for Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

The day wrapped up with a discussion on project financing, focusing on developing financially sustainable urban water projects and explored strategies for recycling and #reusing treated sewage.
