@Adam_Stirling@CityOfVictoria The City of Victoria CSWB Plan clearly states that VicPD is 44 officers short to provide adequate and effective policing that keeps pace with the population growth we’ve had in the city, notwithstanding the increased social disorder. So no, 9 will not be enough but it’s helpful.
Increased visibility and proactive policing are key to a safer community. Our officers have been prioritizing foot and bike patrols when call volumes allow. Yesterday, this work in the 900-block of Pandora led to the seizure of a stolen motor scooter, e-bike, mountain bike, two e-scooters, weapons (inc. 3 replica firearms and knives), cash (proceeds of crime) and drugs. We're dedicated to maintaining this proactive approach and building a safer Victoria, one patrol at a time.
Yesterday morning VicPD received multiple 911 calls reporting a group of males that placed a bag over another man’s head & were pulling him into a white van near the Victoria Courthouse. The suspected kidnapping turned out to be a bachelor party prank.

It’s not every morning you see a four-and-half-meter tall wheel loader cruising down the highway, but that is exactly what happened yesterday.
On May 27, just after 5:30 a.m., the manager of a business in the 500-block of Gorge Road East called police to report a break and enter. About an hour earlier, someone had made off with a Caterpillar 966 Wheel Loader, a massive piece of heavy machinery.
The suspect drove the bright yellow loader through the business’s exterior fence. The machine has a big front scoop, making it hard to miss.
Around 6:45 a.m., someone spotted the loader cruising northbound on the Patricia Bay Highway near McTavish Road.
Sidney RCMP joined the search and, just after 7:30 a.m., officers located the excavator parked and occupied by one man at Swiftsure Place and James White Boulevard in Sidney.
One person was arrested by RCMP, handed over to VicPD, and taken to Victoria Police cells. Police are investigating the incident, which caused a stir but fortunately resulted in no injuries.
So proud tonight to accept the CPRS Bronze Award of Excellence for the Canadian Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Campaign of the Year for our Women of VicPD campaign.
I’m so grateful that we were able to shine a light on the amazing women and culture at VicPD.
An important look at what’s happening on our streets, thanks to The Globe and Mail for telling the story.
