CPR is keeping careful watch on the policy decisions, events, and progress evaluations during the midpoint assessment (MPA) process of the Bay TMDL. Stay tuned.
Insights from @CPRBlog always inform my work, and this report is a particular must read. For me, the connections between climate impacts and the power of state tort law were key.
Hard to fathom what he went through in war for his country and in life to make something out of nothing. He never uttered a word about war, but he loved to teach us about the natural world on many week-long treks. Thanks for your service and I hope that I too can make you proud.
@Jeremy_Cox@MDEnvironment@PaulPinsky@BrianFrosh Small correction: It's not Frosh's office. In fact, there are two AAGs that were involved in the "duel." All regulations must be reviewed for legal sufficiency before being proposed. Thus, it's the General Assembly's AAG vs. MDE's AAG. And Frosh could get involved to pick sides.
Beautiful indeed.
Too bad most of the maps I make show nature's beauty disappearing. Like today's work showing thousands of acres of wetlands on the left, and thousands of acres of wetlands lost in just 1 more foot of sea level rise on the right.
So refreshing to see an environment agency actually advocating for itself and asking for the resources it needs to protect public health and the environment. A certain neighbor to the east has been rejecting offers of budget help from appropriators for years.
Jorgensen noted that a 10% change in average water temperature — about 7 degrees Fahrenheit for Lake Erie in August — generates 50% more energy for algae to grow. The result is massive blooms like those that occurred in 2011, 2015 and 2017.

Exelon should be spending more to mitigate pollution and should be held responsible for addressing necessary environmental improvements upstream of Conowingo Dam. https://t.co/0Vo9ZV9l2g
Fair enough @ToyotaMotorCorp. You can stand on the wrong side of history. That's your decision. But my family's decision will be to make our two current Toyota vehicles the last ones we ever own.
Seems you owe millions of customers an explanation and hopefully a quick reversal.
Researchers also suggested that a decrease in enforcement of the Clean Air Act may have contributed to the recent rise in pollution.

.@nytimes editorial: #Trump's assault on our safeguards isn't making America great again. Far from it. Rather, regulatory rollbacks are making America worse by endangering us all. https://t.co/3zhgau6nKE
Sunny day flooding in Crisfield on Sunday left about 2 feet of saltwater in places. I had to park on the main road and hoof it to the marina. Water almost overtopped my boots.
#Virginia is right to tackle flood-prone hazardous waste hazards like #coalash ponds, but the threat of #toxicfloodwaters runs much deeper. @CPRBlog Member Scholar @nsachs1 & Policy Analyst David Flores comment in a @virginianpilot letter to the editor. https://t.co/DPNt6eQLnL

ACT NOW! Trump's EPA wants to eliminate protections against dangers of toxic #coalash. A blatant giveaway to coal industry would put more communities in harm’s way. Comment by Oct 15. Public hearing Oct 2 in Arlington, VA. https://t.co/ePnPbPglMZ @PotomacRiver@JRAvirginia
Watching their ads with all the wind turbines and solar panels under blue skies, you'd never know that "the world’s biggest energy companies last year devoted just 1 percent of their capital investment to low-carbon energy sources." Get 'em Greta.

In a tweet sure to get lost in the shuffle, but important enough to send anyway (and related to the climate crisis), this major study on massive bird population loss demands attention and action.
