Payments to Rajan Vasisht, an aide from 2019-21, underscore ties between the justice and lawyers who argue cases in front of him

The Venmo transactions of a top aide to Justice Clarence Thomas, Rajan Vasisht, indicate that several lawyers who have previously appeared before the supreme court, including one who successfully advocated for the end of race-conscious admissions at universities, have paid money to Vasisht.

These payments appear to be related to Thomas's 2019 Christmas party and suggest a close connection between Thomas, who has been involved in ethics controversies due to recent revelations about his association with a wealthy billionaire donor, and specific senior lawyers in Washington who argue cases or have other dealings with the justice.
